I had a sisal scratching post that was still in good shape after 5 years that I kept next to my sofa so my cats would choose it over ruining my sofa. Unfortunately, I had to move it to another room because it was a hazard for my toddler. I purchased this as a safe alternative and am very pleased. It actually looks far better than their old scratching post and fits nicely with the decor. It is not an eyesore at all. It is very well constructed, solid wood and the sisal weave is much more durable than wrapped sisal rope. While the pad is replaceable, I have a feeling the one it came with will last for a long time. My cats took to it immediately. They had started scratching the sofa again after I moved their old post and before this one arrived. Now that it’s here, they are choosing it over the sofa. It looks good, my toddler can’t knock it over, my cats like it, and my sofa will be spared. Its a win all around.

Con: It’s a lot of money for a cat post. Also, I put mine higher than I’d like on the wall because I thought I was going to have to get my drill beneath it but no, it was a hex key screw. Learn from me. Pros: It’s aesthetically pleasing. The most aesthetically pleasing cat accessory I’ve ever owned. Sleek, subtle and effective. It’s sturdy and well-made. And I can replace the pad? Snazzy. I mounted mine beside the couch as an alternative for the little monsters. It’s held up nicely for the month I’ve had it. They use it. Side note: must mount to studs.

This seemed like a lot of money to pay for a cat scratcher, but it's worth every penny! I love that the pad is replaceable, even if this company goes out of business, there's lots of other pads in similar sizes you'd be able to replace it with. It was easy to assemble and install, and it's very sturdy! I used studs to make sure it was well attached, and my two large cats have used this every day for three months straight without it moving at all! I thought the mat would get torn up quickly with how often they use it, but it's still in great shape, and I put it on the wall at about cat shoulder level, so they can reach up and get a good stretch in while they scratch, which they love to do. I will definitely be buying more for my other hallways, this is great!

We got this when our little stray first started digging into our new leather couch. Pro Tip: She ignored it till we sprayed it with one of those catnip spray things. Afterwards, she scratched it within moments - and hasn't stopped. YMMV depending on the cat/their strength, but this has held up well for us, and looks minimalist/attractive compared to the typical cat trees. We'll certainly get again!

Had this about a year and my cat is still obsessed with it! Still in good condition, mounted on the wall. It keeps her from clawing up my rugs and furniture

Once attached to the wall, it will be very sturdy and safe. I will be mounting this approximately 10" off the floor so that my cat can get a good stretch and perhaps a climb. I like that a separate mat can be purchased to replace the original mat when it wears out. I would have given this cat scratcher a resounding 5* however it is grossly overpriced. Smart Cat came out with their wall mounted cat scratcher "Bootsie" - The "mother" floor scratcher by Smart Cat was a BEST seller. Bootsie is a wall mount, comparable to 7 Ruby Rd, and is selling for $19.99, which I was able to snag it for $9.99 on Black Friday. Although a considerable price difference, I kept both scratchers because my cat loves them both. I would NOT purchase the 7 Ruby again until the price drops. If price isn't a issue, you will be very satisfied purchasing the 7 Ruby Rd. It in a handsome, upscale cat scratcher that will not disappoint nor detract, even from a well furnished home.

Very sturdy and the cats love it.

I purchased two of these cat scratchers (one for our upstairs floor and one for our downstairs floor). Both of our cats use them all the time. We’ve had them for awhile now, and they are wearing well. I like how you can get replaceable mats for the post instead of just throwing away the whole unit when the mat gets destroyed from use over time. The scratching posts work well mounted or just placed on the floor; in fact, we keep one scratch post low for our one arthritic cat. This is a great product and well worth the investment!

Our cat goes crazy on this thing multiple times per day since we got it 4 months ago, and it’s still showing no signs of wear. I’ve been meaning to leave a review every time I see him trying to tear the thing off the wall. I think he prefers it to the old standalone one because it would wobble about and this one takes up such less space, so winning all round.
