Keens are fabulous! The larger than typical toe box is amazing!
Keens in general are my preferred footwear. Due to reviews stating that these "ran small" I originally ordered a women's 10 (my R foot is slightly larger than a 9.5 and my left is slightly smaller so I am hard to fit generally). However when it came in the 10 way way too big my heel would come out with every step. So I sent them back for a 9.5 and the fit was improved as far as length. However my heel still moves "too much" (up and down) when I step. It's not that they are too long (because I can feel the tip of the shoes on my toes especially on the downhill), I really think that the "hole" or "mouth" for your foot to enter the shoe is too large and too low of a profile. If I had the time I think I would have sent these back for the boot version. I think my solution for the time being is going to be punching another hole higher and further back than the highest loop so I can get a tighter fit at the "mouth" of the shoe.Everything else about the shoe is fantastic! They dry out quickly, they clean up easily (with a shoe/boot dauber brush and some glycerin soap), the shank is really effective at alleviating foot fatigue (and I have plantar fasciitis so my feet fatigue quickly), and the interior support does come out if it is not the type your foot needs, both of my hard orthopedic inserts fit in just fine!Anyways, they already have 50 miles logged on them mostly through mud, wet rocks, and squishy mossy grass and I have yet to have problems. No slipping, rolling, or sliding.

I am very pleased with this boot
I bought these shoes as a complement to my keen hiking 3/4 boots and because they advertised to be more waterproof. I followed the suggestions of previous customers and sized up one whole size to allow for thick socks. I have had them approximately 2 weeks now and from day one put them on and hiked our property. We live in Florida where the mornings are very humid and the ground is very damp, I find that these shoes full fill the bill for me, no more wet toes!!! We have fairly dominant hills, gravel, and uneven ground on 8 acres that my Aussie and I walk every morning we can. No blisters, no sore toes, did find that I do have to wear socks as the heel area is a smidge looser than my 3/4 pair but id you lace them properly taking care to get the ankle area snug they work perfectly. I am very pleased with this boot. I would recommend to anyone who has bunions, bony toes and bad knees!! ( I have two knee replacements) to give these a try if they want a comfortable hiking/walking boot type shoe.

Sturdy light hikers with some heel slippage
I have been wearing Keen lightweight hikers for many years. I usually go to the store, but decided to buy on Amazon this time. I was unable to figure out which model I usually wear: Keen has a bewildering array of such shoes, and they all look exactly the same online. The Gypsum is different from my usual Keen hiker. As others have noted, the heel is pretty loose. Because it's well-padded and I wear these with socks it doesn't really bother me. It's a sturdy shoe and less flexible than my usual model, but they are basically fine. They have all the usual Keen features: nice wide toe box, good arch support and sturdy soles. I took off one star because of the heel slippage, which is a bit more than in my old pair.I wish Keen would provide comparison charts for all their different models.

Holy Arch Support
I've so far put a few varied miles on these shoes and have no complaints. I bought the size I usually wear (7.5) and they fit perfect. I have really high arches and these shoes required no extra insert. They are not your standard tennis shoe, so they don't fit like one and you won't want to run much in them. These are heavier and more boot-like meaning they are stiffer and you can spread your toes out in them. The tread grips great on all kinds of surfaces from the slick tile at work (they don't make the annoying squeak-heard-round-the-world when going down the hall. I liked that.) to rough rocks on the trails. It has been 90 degrees out while I have been wearing these and my feet haven't cooked. They've gotten a little warm a couple times, but I attribute that more to cheap socks than the shoe itself. Overall they are a great, sturdy, hiking shoe made for all-day wear on any terrain.

Perfect for a first pair of hiking shoes in years
When it came time for my boyfriend and me to go hiking in West Virginia, I knew that using old running shoes would not cut it as it does on our normal hikes around North Eastern Ohio. He swears by Keen's (he wears the hiking boots and the steel-toed work boots for play and work), so when I saw these, I decided to give them a try. As someone with small feet, I appreciated that they have small sizes! I thought the fit was snug, but I was wearing running socks, so I did not feel that they were too small. If I had been wearing a thicker sock, it might have been an issue. I did wear them for the first time on the trail and walked away with no blisters! I even did some trail running, as they left my ankles free for quick movements. The waterproofing is amazing, as I stepped directly into the mud and walked out with a dirty shoe, but a dry foot. I'm a believer in Keen's now!

I wish I would've tried on both sizes before purchasing because I feel like the shoe itself is constructed very large
I've never purchased Keens before but wanted a waterproof shoe for hiking and various activities. I purchased these on a whim and read all of the reviews before purchasing. I wish I would've tried on both sizes before purchasing because I feel like the shoe itself is constructed very large. I am a 6.5 in dress shoes 7 in running shoes so went with the 7. Upon first trying it on it looked very big and felt a bit big especially in the heel. However, I have hiked several times in these shoes with thicker socks and they worked out great! I would suggest sizing up and then getting a good thicker sock like smart wool so you're feet are wobbling around.

These walking shoes are great, very comfortable with metatarcel and arch support just where needed. This is my second purchase of Keen boots and I continue to be satisfied with the comfort and wearability. I will certainly get another pair when needed
