This revell Missouri was the first model I've ever done and I absolutely LOVED it! It's a great starter kit (i.e., not thousands of pieces and really inexpensive). It did take me several weeks to finish but I was also being a bit of a perfectionist and make sure I took the time to make things look as good as they could. As this is my first model, I don't really have the experience to compare Revell as a brand to other products. All I can say is that I was throughly pleased with this kit and would definitely recommend it to someone who is interested in getting into modelling but dosen't want to make an enormous financial commitment yet. I will also say that this kit definitely had its quirks to contend with (gaps between the places glued together, extra plastic on the molds, ect) but I actually found I really enjoyed those little challenges. My dad is an avid modeler (he makes wooden sailboats from plans, molds his own led keels and everything... WAY beyond my skill level!) so he's done a model or two in his time and he said that that's all part of it. Finding ways to overcome those little snags and make things work. You get a lovely sense of satisfaction when you devise ways to fix things!!! All in all, if you've done a lot of models this kit will probably drive you nuts. If you're a noobie like me then I expect you'll simply love this kit. Also, the Missouri is just so beautiful and historic that she makes for a wonderful first build. I was fortunate enough to work on Ford Island as I was building her so I got to drive past the real thing on a daily basis. I toured the ship after building this model and was struck by hour accurate the layout and gun mounts were.

Too Easy
I was pleasently surprised by the mo model. i wasnt expecting it to be so big and it took me about a couple of hours to finish glueing together. i thought it was a skill level 3 with the propellers and the propeller shafts so that was another surprise but its a good model to get my feet wet again as i had not done a model in over a year due to homelessness.

Good instructions great background history on ship.
Poor numbering on the tree , had to do lots of cleaning on parts. Missing two parts { guns} and holes in the deck with no info on what goes there. Also has a plaque with print so small it cannot be read. One positive point to make is the instruction sheet is easy to follow with lots of information on history of ship.

It's an old Revell model
It's a toy, unless you treat it like a more detailed model. Paint the hull battleship grey. Paint all the parts. Don't leave the grey plastic unpainted just because it's grey and the instructions don't say to paint it. It looks a lot better if you paint it! The painting instructions are a little unusual for a WWII battleship. Use your imagination, look at historical photos. It will look a lot better.

Patience is a virtue
Well, this is one of those things I just cannot grow out of doing. I love assembling these models. I like them in the unpainted formats - I dont like to paint them - thats me. The quality is reasonably ok - thats cause mine came with a slight warp. If it was any other part of the ship it would have been easy to straighten unfortunately the main body itself was warped. Eventually I put it together - but I wish the vendor would check the products prior to despatching. Btw in case ur wondering why I gave a 4 star rating for educational value - its just because it take a load of patience/dedication to complete.

The Worst Model Kit I've Done Out of Hundreds
I've done a LOT of model kits and this is either the single worst or very close. The excess flash on the molding was absolutely abysmal, the parts don't fit together (The hull won't fit on the deck properly and several parts even with pegs don't fit squarely so I had to cut the pegs off for them to sit right), the plastic is cheap, there are numerous large gaps between the parts (Such as the wings for the two aircraft), and the kit is just overall awful. I don't know if I am just spoiled by how great Bandai kits are and this is the standard for other brands or if this really is just this bad, but as much as I love the USS Missouri I implore you to look elsewhere. Side note, the kit is entirely in a flat grey so you will have to paint everything yourself. You also need to provide some string/thread as well to do the rigging as that is not included (Nor does it give you the dimensions you need to cut the thread to). Do not believe the promotional photos, yours absolutely will not look like that.

is it worth it?
My son loved this.it took him 3 to 4 hours. 20 to 30 of the pieces were small guns. over all very impressed by the length it was at least 16 to17 inches. I would recommend ages from 8 years old. there was 1 challenging part to put the base on to the ship. this package actually came 4 days faster than planned. If this is your first model i really recommend this. over all great quality.

Pobre calidad de las plantillas de plastico, mucha rebaba e imperfeccion delas piezas para armar. Se podria atribuir a la manufactura China (?). Revell Alemania es muy superior.

Had a lot of fun building this battleship up. There are minor defects with the pieces though but wouldn't be a big problem if build with care. The decals are extremely fragile though. If painted properly she would definitely look beautiful. Kinda weird that the ensign coming with the Old Glory is the Coast Guard flag... But I used it anyways. In a nutshell a worthy buy.
