Baomain 1-Pack 350A ANL Fuse Holder Kit with Fuse - Gold-Plated Terminals, for Car Audio, Amplifiers, 12V/24V DC Systems, Compatible with 0/2/4 AWG Wires

I bought this fuse holder on 2/25/2020 for installation in my Sprinter van. Not knowing any better, its use by other vanners inspired my choice. It came within a hair's breadth of causing a catastrophic fire in the van in March 2022. Image 1 attached shows the problem; the outgoing connection of the fuse holder had gotten loose in the normal bumps and shakes of the van during operation. As a result the connection produced an extremely high resistance when the Inverter was drawing current to produce 110v from my 600 amp hour bank of lithium ion house batteries. We estimate the heat at perhaps 700 degrees. Image 2 shows that the heat completely unseated the outgoing connection pin from the plastic base. Image 3 shows however that the fuse did not blow. When we examined the base it was to find that the plastic keeping the outgoing connection pin had melted down until only paper thin burnt carbon was insulating it from the frame of the van. Had that final layer of carbon flaked off a little, a closed loop between the positive and negative poles of the battery bank would have been created producing a battery explosion in less than a minute. Their are two fundamental flaws with this fuse holder. The first is that there is no way to use two wrenches to tighten the cables to the fuse pin (there is only a top nut, while the base is simply embedded in the plastic; tighten too much and you break the plastic. The second flaw is that there is completely inadequate insulation between the bottom of the connection pin carrying the huge current and the underside of the fuse holder; about 1/16th inch of plastic. If that heats up as it did in this case, it melts, the insulating layer gets damaged and catastrophe could ensue. We replaced this fuse holder with the one in images 4-6. One sees in image 4 that there is a huge heavy composite base keeping the fuse well away from the base. Image 5 shows that you can crank the bolt down tight because you have access to a second bolt below it. Image 6 shows the completed repair with proper cover included. That fuse holder (also bought on Amazon) is the Spartan Power Large ANL Fuse Holder. Twice as expensive but a thousand times safer. Be warned!

These are perfect... large opening for my 2/0 welding cable and the cover locks in place without any rattle or movement. The image shows the brand logo on the fuse holder lid but they are blank, without any branding... which is awesome. Super stoked, exactly what I needed. Definitely recommend Baomain for all your ANL fuse and fuse holder needs. Thank you, will buy again.
