Tricky to program, but very versatile
This light strip is bright. REALLY bright. More than is advisable, really. This is better for things like behind a TV or behind/under a desk as effects lighting. It's bright enough that if your wall is white it can easily light up an entire room if you're not careful. The one downside is programming colors manually on it is a bit tricky in the Hue app.

Purchased 8 of these at this point
I'm fully invested in the Phillips Hue ecosystem. I lived in an apartment for some years and had them here and there. When I purchased my house, I went full blitz with all Hue stips, lamps, and more. I love the app's UI, the automation, the quick connectivity and the lights themselves are awesome. I have not had any issues. Sure there are some drawbacks to some of the lights: many of them can produce quite a bit of heat, the gradient strip is limited to about 9 ft. (with the purchase of an extension), and the prices are not always great. Fortunately, I have been able to snag many of my lights over time with sales (40-50% off most of the time) which makes them worth it! Overall I recommend them highly.

Me trying to add cool lighting to my gaming setup, A Saga
The pros: I bought the gradient strip to put on the backside of my desk to light up the wall behind my Samsung Neo G9. It looked absolutely amazing and really took my gaming/work setup to the next level. But the fun didn’t last long. Flipping breaker in our house: Unfortunately after I bought this light strip, the breaker in our townhouse mysteriously started tripping every other day. We couldn’t figure out what the problem was. An electrician that we called asked us if we had any LED lights in the house. Surprised, we said yeah. He told us to unplug them. I unplugged this light strip and suddenly our breakers stopped flipping. Coincident? Unlikely. Prob almost burned our house down: A few weeks later I plugged the light strip back in for a day and within 30 minutes of me doing so the breaker flipped THREE TIMES in a span of like 8 minutes. Got a used product apparently: I saw in quite a few other reviews that people said they received used units despite them being advertised as new. Funny enough, when I opened mine up, the adhesive was completely detached from the strip in one spot towards the end of the strip. I didn’t give it much thought until now but why would my “brand new” light strip be in that condition? Hue customer service: By the time I realized this light strip was causing major electrical problems in our brand new townhouse I was outside the return window and had to go through Hues customer service. To their credit they did let me send the product back. They were supposed to send me another one but it was backordered for literally months but weirdly was in stock on Amazon? I guess because they’re secretly selling used units on here that others have returned for defects. Eventually Hue offered me a full refund when it became apparent that it wasn’t going to be back in stock any time soon. Whole process took like 2 months due to the back ordering issue. If I had just asked for money back right away it all prob would’ve been sorted in like 2 weeks. Summary: Was defective. Caused electrical issues in my house. Hue refunded me. Don’t waste your money. Update 2/24/23: I received one of these light strips as a gift (this one came directly from the Hue website), plugged it in, and after literally THREE days of being plugged in, the entire strip stopped working. Only the very end near the plug lights up. I'm literally flabbergasted by how poor the quality of Hue products are. It's no wonder they don't let customers leave reviews. I actually cannot believe they get away with selling products of this terrible quality for this much money. STAY AWAY. If you're going to risk it with these light strips just try Govee. At least they're half the price so if it breaks you wont get burned as bad.

The sticking gel is too weak, it keeps on detaching
The lights work, through it has a bug where only one third of it turns on, it takes several cycles of plugging and unplugging for all of it to light up

Hue is the Best you can Get
Can’t beat Hue. Look no further for the best lightstrips around. Easily control brightness and colors through app. This 6 foot strip made setting up my space easy. Connects properly. Have had this for years and no troubles in sight. Could use a better adhesive, but would not hold that against it

Just bought my first Hue product thinking these bad reviews can't be the norm, right? Well.. should have known better. Didn't even take the strip out of the box - I just plugged it in and sure enough, only the first foot lights up. Amazon will issue a reimbursement, but won't even let me replace it (as if I'm the problem here). Shame.

Expensive for what it is. I highly recommend just getting the TV version as the length is longer if you intend to install this to your TV

Philips dropped the ball hard by being cheap. Probably crappy aluminum wiring or very imperfect materials used. For $200 this thing should be made from premium copper components. If you bend the strip 15 degrees this is enough to disconnect the IC connections in the strip. Literally was trying to light up under the couch and rotating this upside down wrecked the product. The whole point of LED strips is for the purpose of adding lights to objects as a canvas. Honestly whoever the engineer or marketer was that okay’d this needs to be discussed with or fired as this impacts Philips reputation hard. If the hue gradient products were popular like other brands this is due for a recall or risk a malfunctioning lawsuit as I can see this product being a risk to short circuiting causing fires. The marketers selling this product don’t deserve this either. Avoid at all costs.

I had one working and one had the symptom of only lighting up like 4 inches from the wire. Brought a third one just to also have the same issue. Swapped the small module and power bricks on both the DOA ones and they both fully light up and function. Not entirely sure how that works. Since the strip is 4 pin and the modules should basically function all the same roughly except for setting up hue and having an ID to know this strip is for the bedroom or living room.

Bought 2 sets of these lights for my desk. Very expensive, but definitely a premium product and a step above your regular Amazon strip lights. One of the strips I bought only lit up about 5 LEDs out of the whole strip, and had to be sent back. Bit of a nuisance, but the pack that works, works. 2 starts because of the bad QA.
