The Sandusky Mall: A History (Landmarks)

A must-have for those who remember the Mall in its heyday!
I grew up in Sandusky (family moved here in 1970) and I still remember the thrill of the mall opening. I remember walking down the main concourse and thinking the floor tiles were so cool - they had pieces of shell in them! I saw "Star Wars" in the Mall Cinema when it opened, ate at York Steak House, shopped at Woolworth's and had lunch at Harvest House. I danced at Angelo's and worked at Sears. I got mint chocolate chip ice cream at Baskin Robbins and gummi bears at Mr. Bulky's. I and my BFF went to the mall on cold winter Saturdays, stuffed our coats in the lockers by Gray Drug, and wandered around until our parents came to pick us up in the late afternoon because we were too young to drive. If you have those memories too, this book is for you! It's got a ton of interesting information and PICTURES! Pictures of all those great Mall stores you remember that I'm not sure you can find anywhere else. Remember the fountains? There are pictures of those too! It's all here.I got my copy yesterday and I think I'm going to be 15 again for the next few days. :-) The author did his research and we are the lucky beneficiaries. Highly recommended!

Great walk down memory lane!
This book is a wonderfully detailed account of my childhood mall, The Sandusky Mall. You are taken through it’s inception, construction, and history. If you’re from the surrounding areas around Sandusky, chances are, you shopped there. I’ve been going there since the beginning and was reminded about SO many wonderful stores and events held there. The mall had many transformations and you’re taken through them along with the history and background of the many stores that inhabited the mall over the years.I wish there were more colored pictures, but there were lots of great black and whites. All in all- a fun and great bit of history about our hometown mall.

It brings back memories, chronicles the downtown to mall shift and demise of malls.
I enjoyed this book. It was well organized and the author has a clear writing style. Lots of pictures to remind of the days past when the mall became and was the place to be before the internet changed retail. It brought back many good memories and summarized the harsh changes that happen in retail and food industry. A keepsake for me to share with my siblings who actually worked at mall.

Wonderful reading
My husband and I are really enjoying this book. We are from Sandusky and remember when the mall was built but didn't know all the efforts that went into building it. And reminiscing about the stores we remember and the ones we forgot or never knew were there. Very interesting, love it.

Great book on our Sandusky Mall
A nice blast from the past for an 80’s/90’s kid that spent so much time at our mall in its hey day. I loved all the old photos- brought back many great memories.
