Do you REALLY know how to use your BOB?
This book is a must have for anyone who owns or uses a Body Opponent Bag. It covers all the basics like punching combinations....at first it seems a little redundant, perhaps even dull for an experienced martial artist. I ask though , do you really train using ALL possible combinations or do you stick to a few "favorites" only? That question alone makes reading EVERY part of this book essential. It covers more though, a lot more! Besides basic striking, it covers first strikes, choking drills, stick/knife drills, proficiency drills and even razing drills. It covers realistic and practical training scheduled for continuous skill advancement. And as always, you can find the always handy glossary at the end of the book for quick reference.I don't just recommend this book , I consider it am essential companion to purchase with a BOB!

You fight like you train and train like you fight.
Again Sammy Franco has done it again. As an combatives instructor who owns two BOB training dummies this book is an excellent training guide. This book covers everything from setting up the BOB ,to equipment needed such as wraps and gloves. BOB isn't just a heavy bag but a realistic adult sized training partner. This book covers stances along with punching, kicking, grappling, ground and pound, weapons and much more. Sections on heart monitors, interval timers and the use of a video camera to see your form is also helpful. Time based BOB workouts are included in the book along with punching proficiency training charts. Photographs are abundant in the book to help you see combinations and charts to show sequence and reps. It's a great for beginners all the way up to advanced level. You fight like you train and train like you fight.

WARNING!
This is an excellent little compendium on training with the Body Opponent Bag (BOB). I personally have the BOB XL which is great! I do not have much to add to what the other reviews have already stated. I do have one warning that may be a potential mistake by the author. On page 146 and page 147 under the picture description the author suggests using petroleum jelly on BOB's face for the razing technique. The problem is that Vaseline (petroleum jelly) or other petroleum products should never be used on rubber or neoprene objects. It can deteriorate the rubber or neoprene very rapidly. The correct lube to use is a silicone based lubricant. Although a small error I just thought I would point it out so no one damages their BOB over time due to deterioration. Otherwise this is an excellent book!

This book has some good ideas
If you have never attended a martial arts class this book has some good pointers for keeping you from hurting yourself or your BOB. For anyone who regularly trains in a dojo you will already be performing the techniques in this book. However, there are some good reminders such as how to protect your wrists. In summary a good book, but nothing new. Still I am glad I own a copy.

Great Training Aid
When I do Run-Hide-Fight Training BOB is there for me! No, I don't have Faculty and Staff working out on him to become combatants! However, what a great help explaining and demonstrating how proven defensive tactics and anatomy/physiology work together.
