Installed in a 40 Year Old Craftsman 3 HP Compressor Giving it New Life
I searched online for a direct replacement to an old Craftsman 230 volt compressor that had the on off switch die on me. This was something that was close to the same thing as the original, but had a couple extra features that I wanted. It was rated higher than the original for current, and had two different types of pressure adjustments that could be done if you wanted to do it. One is you could adjust one of the screws to alter both the automatic turn on and turn off (CUT in and CUT off) at the same time, increasing or decreasing them both. The other one just adjusts the CUT off. Note it comes preset at Factory On/Off Set 95 to 125 PSI.Now it's important to note this is not exactly the same as the original Craftsman one. It does have the automatic air pressure unloader for the piston in the correct location, but the lever switch is in a slightly different angle to the original. 90 degrees up different, though it moves the same way as the original and is located on the same side as the original. Also note that I needed a nipple to go from this new one to the pressure side of the compressor, because the original had a male thread already on it, but this one had a female fitting on it. So to make this one work and so I could get access to the lever switch, I altered the Craftsman compressor cover by cutting away a small piece of plastic so I could actuate the switch. The retrofit worked well for me.So I turned it on, and checked to see the operation of it. It worked like a champ. It turned off and on as it said, and the air unloader worked properly too. This brought new life to my compressor.

I have compressed air again
Fitted to a 60 gallon compressor.PROSEasy to fitAs described.Works straight out of the boxCompactCONSAccording to my pressure gauge it switches on at 105 and off at 142. Not in line with spec. However I cannot guarantee the pressure gauge is correct. This has a female pipe threadNot adjustable

cut out adjustment is loose
The switch works as it is supposed to. the cut out adjustment screw is a loose fit thread and can vibrate around as the compressor runs. I got the cut out screw set where I wanted it and put a dab of paint on the thread so it won't move

Does not function properly
When the aircompressor gets to 95 psi, the compressor motor turns off, and the release schrader valve on the pressure switch opens, and allows the air out, until the motor reengages, and it just runs all day long like this.. the compressor never holds pressure.i bought this, because the OEM one did the same thing, however, this is doing it too.. it is defective, brand new.

Good Pressure switch.
Works good, first one failed as it was not the right model for a 3hp motor. Also learned they are not easily repaired as they can't be re-assembled with out a fixture to hold the springs in place and get the screws back in.
