These salt lamps emit a nice orangy pink glow. I'm not sure if the claims of producing better quality air and healthier environment are true, but they are pretty cool looking and the glow they produce gives the room a nice ambiance, I like them for that alone. I also really like the dimmer switch feature. I have 2 of these lamps, the 11" ( 1004), the 8" ( 1002) and I also have a different salt lamp that is the bowl version, a metal bowl/basket with chunks of salt rocks and a bulb in the center of the bowl. So, I have 3 salt lamps total and have placed them in different rooms in the house. I do like these 2 lamps better then the bowl lamp. While the bowl lamp is pretty nice looking and I do like it OK, these are more compact and space friendly and the design of it means you can put in anywhere, a table, bookcase, counter etc. and it looks nice. I also believe that if the health benefits are in fact real, then this style lamp would prob be more effective in emitting said Ions in the air.Overall, I really like these alot and would definitely recommend them. They would also make nice gifts and I plan on ordering a few more for that myself. They are nice to look at, good conversation pieces and create a nice ambient glow. Those attributes combined with the fact that they may possibly provide health benefits for my family and I cant see not getting a few to distribute around the home.

My lamp arrived well wrapped fro rascodog. Purchased the 15-20 lb, 10 inch WBM and it is bright beautiful, sits on a light wood base with a cord, easy to switch on/off touch flip switch.This morning I came downstairs and found it beaming from the corner living room table. Hmmmm, I had turned it off last night when I went to bed? My husband caught up to me at the coffeepot at said "hey, not sure what's up with that big rock light thing you bought, if it's a psychological thing or what, but it make me feel good, you know the whole room feels good. I don't know if it's the color or the fact that it's salt crystals...well it doesn't matter I'm glad you bought it because it makes me feel better. I was thinking about buying one for the extra room upstairs, a smaller one?"Note here, I took this lamp out of the box and plugged it in last night about 10pm while we were watching TV, then turned it out when we went to bed. He went up much earlier than I so exposed to it only a short time. It had such a positive impact on him in that small window of time! He had to literally crawl through a pile of stuff I was working on to get to the lamp this morning to turn it on, but he was motivated!We'll be getting at least one more smaller one for his office/music studio area, holy cow. Sending one to a friend as well. Whether it's a psychological effect or has a true physical effect on the environment, it is amazingly beautiful, comforting and looks cool too! Yes buying at least two more. Wow.

It is a bit pricey but beautiful. I ordered the 10" to 11" size and it actually measures 10" tall. Can't be too precise because it is hand carved and it depends on how the chips fall so to speak. :-)As some reviews complained that it got hot and started smoking or caught fire, my power cord or dimmer control does not even get warm so I suspect that problem has been corrected. Any electric device that you leave on while unattended should be plugged into a ground fault interrupter (GFI) receptacle just to be safe. I suspect those people put the wrong type of lamp or higher that 40 watt light bulb in theirs.I am monitoring the humidity close to the lamp and it seems to be slightly elevated since I started using it.I have asthma and second hand smoke throughout my apartment complex causes me to cough but I haven't been as much lately.It makes a great light to watch TV by or for a night light.I am really pleased with it. I am considering buying another one for the bedroom.

Although both had defects. I kept the second one...The first lamp I received was defect. The rock was not centered properly on its base, so the bulb could not get in unless you literally force it in and it was impossible to screw the black base on the rock either. I requested an exchange. And as usual, with Amazon, it was done pretty fast. I received it the next day. No complain about that.The second one, its base was ok, but the rock came with several cracks. I did not really mind about it and I kept it, because this salt lamp is going on the floor on a corner of my kitchen and its only purpose is about purifying the air. But I would not now dare to buy one as a gift or for my third room. For me, two on two is a bad score.I got my first salt lamp over 10 years ago, and its quality and its warm orange color surpasses a lot the ones I received. So, for my next purchase, because I still need another for my third room, I’ll put a little bit more money into it to see if I can get better.If you don’t mind these details, go for it. They are not expensive and to purify the space, it still a salt lamp, and it will do the job. In another hand, if you care about high quality product, I’ll recommend to spend a little bit more money into it.In truth, I would have give a 3.5, but I’ll give a 4 stars instead than a 3 because of the quality of Amazon customer service.
