Perfect for what we needed
With a double banister, this gate was perfect for what we needed. The straps were able go around the railing in a way other devices would not. The directions leave a little to be desired and it did take a second person, but looks good and functions well.

These are great! Looks nice as a gate for my patios with wrought iron railing
Tried several solutions to keep my dogs contained within my patios to no avail. These are sturdy, easy to open/close, and lock in place. They also look good with my wrought iron railing. I secured them at the bottom of my deck stairs. Most importantly, they secure in place to my wrought iron rails without having to drill or otherwise modify my deck railing. The kit comes with hardware that solves most installation challenges.

Need longer screws
This is a great option if you have a banister you don’t want to screw into. The installation was pretty easy but the strap broke on the first gate we got. Many reviews said that the screws included with the gate weren’t long enough and they were right. We used the trim spacers and the screws didn’t even make it through the drywall. I had to go out and buy #8 - 3in wood screws. I didn’t use any plastic anchors but I don’t know if they would work even without the spacers.

Missing instructions and pieces
The gate itself works great, but there were no instructions and a bracket was missing from the box. We didn’t end up needing the bracket, so the gate is functional. But it was very difficult to figure out how to install it just based off the picture on the box.

EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!
Super easy to put together & install. We have a metal rail as you can see so I needed something I could attach to the metal AND wall mount! It took me forever to find a gate with good reviews for TOP of stairs & came with the correct hardware! I'm so glad I finally found this. We have a 10 month old so this has been up for about 4 months now & it works great! Very sturdy so far, opens & shuts easily & with one hand. It does not close on its own so there was a little reminder period for our 13 year old to "Close the gate." But I have no complaints! This gate is PERFECT for us.

Cheap hardware
Bought this gate for the bottom of our stairs. Looked great! Loved that I didn’t have to drill any holes into my banisters. I’ve only had it for about 5 months and the hardware that you use to install it to the banisters has ripped on the inside. Super bummed because it is now unusable. I had a gate like this one previously from a different company and it lasted for years. Very disappointed in this one.

Perfect for between banisters
Exactly what we needed for the top of our stairs between two banisters. It was hard to find the perfect solution. I didn’t want a bar on the floor which could cause someone to trip, and needed something that could secure between the banisters (even without screws which is a major plus)! It is very secure against the banisters without any special adapters. You may have to adjust things a bit when expanding the gate width wise to have it fit perfectly but that was rather simple. The latch doesn’t seem super durable but it hasn’t posed any issues so far. This has worked well so far (for the dog and child) and I would buy it again.

Cheap but cheap
Easy enough to install but there are a couple issues. First, if you are installing it to a wall and need to use the spacers, the screws really are not long enough. I ended up using a 3.5inch screw I had and threw out the stuff that came with it. Second, it drags on the carpet. Not a huge deal but it’s a little annoying. Third, the latch is really cheap plastic. You can tell it’s not going to last very long. And lastly, the gate is adjustable and can slide to the width of the stairs, which is great but the latches are also cheap. Which is the biggest issue for us since the one we have immediately slides in just a little, causing the latch to not close properly and becoming useless. I’ll probably just drill a screw into it to secure it but this is a flaw. So buyer beware. In the end I don’t expect something inexpensive to be quality, so since it was only $99 we got what we paid for i guess. If you are looking for something sturdy, look elsewhere. If you are okay with something lasting only a year, choose this one.
