GM Genuine Parts 172-2777 Front Driver Side Disc Brake Caliper Assembly

Great caliper that has a bunch of different vehicle applications. Big brake brembos at a reasonable price. I just wish they could remove the Cadillac and powder coat them in red.

Like the previous review for the C5 owner, I was curious about this for a C4 since the calipers are so cheap (barely any more expensive than the adapter brackets to do the C5 upgrade which is barely better than the C4 J55 brakes) and I was having clearance issues with the C5 one. Because of where they mount in relation to the knuckle vs on a C5/C6 I had to do minor filing if the inside of the rotor hat, they needed to be spaced out from the knuckle to center on the rotor (I used YFS CDC14060-8 Grade 12.9 socket cap bolts) and wheel clearance will be extra particular (they fit my OEM C5 Z06 18x10.5 58mm offset wheels), and instead of the C6 Z06 14" rotors I had to use the Powerstop C6 Z51 13.4" brake rotors (which aligns near perfectly with the brake pad area). All told a pretty good upgrade in style/feel that's barely any heavier than the stock J55 setup and actually about a pound lighter per side than the C5 calipers with the C5 adapter bracket and C6 J55 rotors.

This caliper, matched to its twin on the other side, both mount to the C5 knuckles perfectly. Matched with some C6 Z06 rotors, throw alittle paint on them and boom you have a perfect budge OE brembo kit. Supper happy with the results.

I did a break swap for my Gr86, and it went smoothly… no fitment problem but I did have to get a bracket/adaptor from Ctsv so it could mount on properly…. Running 12.6in rotors but I think anywhere from 12.6-12.8 will do the trick for these.
