Cheaper than buying a new grinder
I got an EcoGrinder 3 years ago, which looks just like any number of other cylindrical coffee grinders on Amazon. It wasn't great, but it worked fine for a couple of cups of coffee a week until earlier this week. The black plastic piece in the burr cone had broken and would no longer hold the axle so turning the crank did nothing. I started shopping grinders and the better ones are expensive and the ones like this have a lot of negative reviews about them breaking quickly. I didn't want to spend $30 or more for a better grinder, even $15-$25 for another cheap one seemed risky. But then I found this part, so I bought it and it works great! The plastic piece is now white (maybe nylon like the description says) and maybe it will last longer (I've only tried it a few times so far). The grinder works again as well as it has ever worked, maybe better since the new burr is no doubt sharper. Saves money and it beats throwing the old grinder away for a new one (though comes in a GIANT padded envelope, oh well). One difference is the plastic piece is bigger and I'm not sure it can be removed from the burr like my old one, which will prevent cleaning inside the burr where fine grounds get caught.

An Excellent Replacement part
Update, 2-4-2022, After using my have used this replacement part for over 2 1/2 years now and it's still going strong! I only use it 2-3 times a week but that's much longer than the original grinders lasted, just after the grinder warranty ran out.. I purchased 2 of these in the hopes that I could repair several Amado burr grinders that seem to break within a few weeks past the 1 year warranty period. I am very happy that these are being offered as it's such a waste to have a grinder that would last a lifetime with careful use turn useless due to a plastic part. What a waste of resources! I installed them in both of my Amados and they work perfectly. I will update a review in a year on how they have held up. Even is they fail within that period, it's still much less expensive than replacing the whole grinder. I would suggest getting 2 of these so you have a replacement on hand if you need it.

A genuine upgrade!
When I found this, I wondered, would it fit in my (other branded) manual coffee grinder?Yes, yes, yes, precisely so!And the design is improved. By recasting the ceramic grinder interior surface, the plastic insert (now translucent white rather than black) has a cross shape that distributes the rotational torque much more widely. While it took three years for my first grinder to fail (when this plastic insert cracked/split diametrically), it is certainly the only part of the grinder which shows any wear, and this part solves this problem very effectively.I'm so glad it is for sale and I could buy it rather than buying a whole new hand grinder. I did buy a second hand grinder, so now I have two :-).Obviously I like it, although it does take a while to grind the beans--more than a minute I think, although I have not timed it. Of course, the time involved is dependent on the fineness/coarseness of the grind.

Seems ok for now
I've only been using this replacement burr for a few days, so I can't speak to its lifespan. I'm very hopeful that it will outlast the burr that I replaced! My only concern with this is I don't seem to be able to adjust the grind size and now I'm getting grounds the consistence of flour! It's working out okay for my pour-over method, but if I were using a French press or other such device it would made mud rather than coffee. Be warned, if you use this burr you may not be able to adjust the grind. Also, since it's turning out such a fine grind it's really difficult to turn the handle and takes much longer than it use to.

This "upgrade" plastic insert is garbage. Fails after 1 grind
I've loved my Javapresse grinder since I first got it in March 2017. I recently needed to order the new plastic sleeve bearings, as mine broke. While I was at it, I was curious about this "upgrade" ceramic burr and insert. My original burr and black plastic insert are still working fine, I just though I'd try this out to see if I could tell any difference or if my original burr was maybe getting worn without me noticing. What a mistake! I got through one grind with this new "upgrade" part. On the second grind, when the grinding got tough (I set mine for 7 "clicks" out, so I'm doing an easier course grind anyway), it locked up. Locked up isn't quite the word for it. The crank kept turning, but the burr was not. I was completely baffled for several minutes, trying to figure out what was going on -- and oh, so desperate for my morning life juice, as I was standing in the office break room looking like an idiot with a complete crap product that can't grind a single cup of coffee worth of beans.I still don't understand what's happening. Apparently the "wings" on the shaft are simply spinning around inside that clear plastic insert (not freely spinning, there's some resistance, but obviously the grooves meant to engage with the wings on the shaft are not tight enough). You've let me down, Javapresse. This design is very poor. Unless I somehow got a defective lemon.I've gone back to my original burr & black plastic insert, which are still working perfect. I guess I'll continue using the original set until it breaks, then I'll have no choice but to go with another product, as this new design is untrustworthy. Very disappointed.

So far so good
I bought this part as a replacement for the Blisslii grinder, which broke when I tried to grind a light-roast African small-bean coffee. The part that broke wasn't the ceramic burr, but rather the plastic part that transferred force from the shaft to the burr. This burr and nylon fitting fits well into the Blisslii and I am once again getting a good grind. I have used it to grind the same beans that broke the Blisslii, without any problems. Knock on wood!

works on an odd-named grinder
The plastic broke on some off-brand name grinder I got a year or 2 ago, the ones made to fit in the aeropress. This fits just right and works and now I can get some more use out of the same grinder for another year or 2.edit: I also bought 2 more cheap aeropress-style no name grinders for about 6 and a half bucks each. They all work the same so grab some backups as cheap as you can. At that price I recommend just buying a new cheapo no name brand new.
