There's a lot of painted/printed detail on each piece down to the animal fur textures and the animals especially are very dense and durable and could easily be passed down through children if need be. Great set, great variety, and would be good for dioramas. Does include some tiny (few millimeters wide) pieces not suitable for small children but if you remove those then the majority of the set is fine and those pieces really aren't needed for play.

As usual, I am pleased by the detail in Schleich figurines and play sets. I also like the fact that all of their animal figures can stand, which isn’t always a given with other brands. There’s nothing worse than an animal that was incorrectly molded so that the feet can’t support the animal etc. My only complaint about the set would be the false advertising of the treasure chest. In the picture on the box it is overflowing with gold coins. Well the set only contains 12 very thin, small coins - a fraction of what’s in the picture. Not a big deal, but it always bothers me when the pictures don’t accurately represent the actual items included.

I love this company and this product, but one of the "days"/boxes was empty! There was no baby emu that is supposed to go in the egg :( Luckily, the intention of my order was unrelated to the holiday because that would have been very sad for a child to find the one of Advent day boxes empty. So I guess be a little prepared that that might happen. I believe everything else is there, though there are also only 10 gold coins and they're individual, so they aren't a pile of coins like they are in the picture so that's a little misleading... I'd say it's still a very good deal and their quality is aways amazing.

Usually love Schleich toys for my son who is a big animal lover. Very disappointed in this. One of the calendar days had nothing in it. A lot of small disappointing “days” like a toy piece of pie and cup. My child was not into it. Plus, he told me he already knew what was in it since the picture of every item is on the box so it wasn’t a surprise. Save your money. Definitely not worth the price tag. You’d be better off getting a traditional calendar with chocolate and then getting a few tiny toys to pop in as a surprise. Won’t be purchasing one of these again.

I’m so surprised to find such bad reviews I had to stop and write something. I bought each of the three advent calendars Schleich put out for my ten year old who is obsessed with animals and has wanted to be a vet or work In a zoo since she was 5. Their animals are crafted with such love and detail that it is hard to believe that you can buy a baby elephant for $3.99 that has so many realistic details for example. And this advent calendar was no different. In fact, for $30, I don’t know what people expect but that’s basically almost $1 a toy so yeah some aren’t going to be large lions but the little details matter in play too.The only thing that they got wrong was the plastic egg. I had been very ill and I wasn’t able to see my daughter for almost a week! So when she came she got to open all the way from Dec 1-5 I think it was and it was this plastic egg looking thing you get when you put a quarter in a machine. But there’s supposed to be something in the egg. In this case, there was just the plastic. So she was not only disappointed but so was I so I let her open one more and she got the chick. We realized it was the egg for the chick but it looked more like garbage to me sadly.Other than that she was all screams and excitement and it was so much fun that I ended up letting her open the whole thing and getting the other two calendars they had. Honestly, the best animal figurines hands down especially for the money.Cheers!

I purchased 2 advent calendars for my kids (same brand, different calendars) and my son is severly disappointed. We're on December 7th and there is no item for day 7? I wouldn't normally mind if a piece out of a kit was missing but the sole purpose of advent calendars is to have something small every day?!!

My son loved the advent calendar! The empty egg everyone is talking about goes with the baby ostrich that is in one of the days. The shovel and bucket are little but at the end of the month when you have everything it makes a great scene for kids to play. I understand what Schleich was doing. It gets the kids excited for the next day so they can add to there scene. great idea!!

My son loves Schleich animals so we were excited when I found this Advent calendar. Sadly, the space for day 7 was completely empty. I hope the rest of the items are in there....
