i plugged it into my MIDI keyboard and the software detected everything just fine. The LED's help me make sure i hooked it up right. seems to respond well, but i did not test its polling rate or response time.

Works for what I need (including Rock Band 3 instruments)
I saw another user mention they had had issues getting this cable to connect to the Rock Band 3 instruments. I only have the keyboard, but I was able to get it to work by running the IN to the OUT connection on the RB3 keyboard, USB to computer, and adding the device as a usb MIDI option in my DAW (Personus Studio One). I did not have to connect the other MIDI cable to anything to get this to work. I also tested the cable with my Alesis Nitro drum kit by plugging both MIDI cables into the "brain" of the drums and the USB out. Here, I did not have to reconfigure anything in my DAW'S MIDI, it just worked. It just came in the mail today so I can't speak to the longevity of its functionality but after immediate testing it does fulfill my needs.

Works, but flashing is too much
The lights are too bright and annoying.

Ressurected my Roland D50
Perfect new age upgrade for my old old Roland D50.Which did have its internal backup battery die.. which required me to reflash the sound banks.. which then required this USB to MIDI adapter. After replacing the 2032 flat battery - third part software had no issues recognising the usb adapter and posed no issues reflashing the keyboard back to factory original sound banks.Works as advertised!

Sadly, this does not work with the Rock Band 3 Keytar or Squier Stratocaster Peripherals
I was hoping to find a MIDI-to-USB cable that would work with my RB3 MIDI peripherals because, apparently, the way they are set up privies them to not register like a normal MIDI instrument would. Even though I was told "more professional" MIDI-to-USB cables are more-likely to have this issue of non-registration, I bought this item in hopes that it would work with my outdated, plastic peripherals (and last longer than the competing - yet, some-what confirmed-to-work - cheaper cables.)I fell for it because, unfortunately, there were no Google searches or reviews stating that it does not work with these peripherals. So, now I will be the review who states just that. This cable does not work properly with the Pro instruments series from Rock Band 3. When you plug the IN cable into the OUT port of the MIDI device and turn on the device, it will erroneously flash blue to search for the wireless dongle and refuse to turn red, signaling it has entered MIDI mode. In turn, a similar blue light will flash on the MIDI-to-USB cable itself. (Also, I, unfortunately, do not have any other MIDI devices other than these two RB3 peripherals to check if the cable actually functions. It's lighting up, so I assume it's in working condition.) Google does not have a fix and I could not find much of a fix either to this issue. While not entirely the fault of the makers of this product that their hardware doesn't work on such a niche product, I had one goal when buying this product that I can't say was a success in the end. Hopefully, I can spare other people the same headache that I got trying to work this product with the Keytar and Pro Squier. (In other words, I have resigned to try the more cheaper cables in hopes that they truly do work with my niche MIDI peripherals.)

Empty bag
I'm sure it's a good product but my bag was opened and it was delivered to my door step empty. Someone probably needed it more than me.

Works great even on old hardware
We have a 20 year old Casio keyboard and a five year old Samsung laptop. My young son wanted to connect the keyboard to his laptop. This cable did the trick, worked perfectly the first time. He was able to download software to support this new setup.
