Sits in my bell with a closed case and is quiet enough to pop in during a performance to play a few notes before an exposed segment of a song.

Of course air flow is diminished but you can hear yourself enough to enjoy playing.Helps keep embouchure in shape.

I originally wanted a Best Brass practice mute. My section mate had one and I could hardly hear her warming up. Sometimes not at all. When I went to purchase it the price was almost $100. I saw that Pro Tec had one that was nearly identical for less than 1/3 the price. It's Amazon and if I didn't like it I could return it.Though it has a cork grip ring instead of the neoprene on Best Brass the size and performance is very very close. I think the Best Brass is a hair quieter but not enough to warrant another $70 in cost. This mute is VERY quiet. I have other practice mutes; the Don Maslet, the original Yamaha Silent Brass and a home made "Renuzit" mute (made from the air freshener plastic housing). The Liberty is the quietest of the bunch though not entirely the most free flowing, but none of them feel like an open trumpet.If you've got money to burn by all means go for the Best Brass, but this one is a *very* close second.

Good practice mute. Low profile and will fit into a case or gig bag in the bell... Light/ small, However, intonation is sketchy and quite a bit of resistance.

This practice mute is great. I can be in a room with other people with the mute in and they can’t even tell I’m playing the horn. It’s small size is great for traveling as it can fit in the bell of the horn in the case, and it even fits my pocket trumpet. Not too much resistance while playing so you can still practice or warm up using it.

It does a good job of stifling the sound, but the pitch changes more than on the Yamaha Silent Brass system mute which I have been using. I like that it doesn't stick out of my cornet as far as the Yamaha, which kept bumping into my music stand, and love that it is very light. Just know that the pitch change is more than a sensitive musician's ears may tolerate.

This mute does exactly what it claims to do. I live in a townhouse and I didn’t want to practice because I didn’t want to bother my neighbors. I play with this mute and they cannot hear me at all. Practice away!!

Increíble sordina. Su calidad es muy alta, la podría comparar con la Best Brass que también tengo, y se acerca muchísimo a esa sordina en calidad. Aún hay diferencias entre ellas. Su flujo de aire es grande, por lo que deja tocar sin mucha resistencia y puedes tocar desde el pedal al agudo sin problemas de afinación. La recomiendo ampliamente.

Muy ligera y reduce muy bien el sonido, ideal para practicar sin molestar a la los vecinos. Muy contento con la compra

I've never had a practice trumpet before, but this thing is great! It's sooooo quiet, but you can hear what you're playing in your own head. There wasn't as much push-back as I was expecting, so that was an added bonus. This is probably the best bang for your buck for a practice mute, highly recommended (especially if you live in an apartment)!
