I am very picky with my pillows, and I have spent a lot of money searching for the perfect pillow because I suffer from neck pain, and I also need a cold pillow in order to be able to sleep. I bought a very expensive pillow made of very high density memory foam and with a top layer of gel to make it cold. It was great, except when traveling, because it is big and super heavy. So I bought this mat hoping to put it on top of a small and light memory foam pillow to make it cold. The problem with all these cooling gel products is that they work great at first, but after a while they absorb so much of your own body heat that they actually get uncomfortably warm. I always wind up flinging this off the bed in the middle of the night because it's gotten too warm. I think that's just the nature of the material.

well for one the plastic smells like dead fish. After that add the fact I used it FIVE minutes and it already became hot under my head. This item came earlier than expected which was a nice surprise! There are no separate instructions for the item but it's pretty self explanatory. It is capable of being a cooling pad as well as a warming pad. It is quite cooling when my room gets a bit too warm and I have used it to warm my stomache up when I had cramps. To heat it all you have to do is microwave it for a little bit. If you don't like the microwave then let it sit in some hot water for a while. For the cooling sensation, you can toss it in the freezer and it will cool you down instantly. And since it is gel it will be cold longer!Love the item. Thank you!

Product is cool/cold to the touch, especially if you leave it in a cool air conditioned room. What I don't like about it is I've used to try to keep me cool at night, either on my pillow or under by back and when the cool dissipates, it really dissipates and it becomes counter productive and maintains the heat.

Wish I would have bought 2 of these and brought one to our cottage. It works well but during the extreme hot flashes I can still heat it up. When this happens I just turn it over. I have tried placing inside the pillow case but it moves around too much and I have to remove to adjust.

There was barely any cooling gel inside of my pad. I managed to move what was in there to the edges and cool my cheeks. I have Lupus and my face feels like it is on fire at times and the back of my head. My husband bought this for me hoping it would help. I have tried to return it but everything sends you to Amazon's policy's. It is well past the thirty days due to I was in and out of the hospital and didn't get around to returning it.Bottom line do not buy this item, there is not enough gel in it to help you!

Love this mat! No work required, it just stays cool. I sleep with it, and am so comfortable
