My cat is obsessed
I absolutely love, love, love, love, love love this item!! First of all is very easy to put together. I felt like it’s held up great over the past couple of months. My cat uses it every single day as well! I do have a larger cat: he is pretty long and he weighs about 10 pounds with several ounces to spare. I have no problem with him using it. The scratcher is very sturdy and it doesn’t tip over or shake when he uses it. I think the size is perfect. If you don’t have a lot of space but you still want to have a scratcher for your cat so they don’t indulge in bad behaviors this is the perfect fit. I also think the price is really great for this item, it’s a bit of a steal with how well the scratcher has held up. I like it so much that my parents also ended up purchasing it as well!

Works Great
Our cat had regularly scratched our furniture. She has a big cat tree where all the posts are wrapped for scratching, but if she is in another room... We have tried to train her, but she would "forget" on occasions. We had picked up one in a store. The base was folded in half which needed to be unfolded to assemble and use. The mount screw broke the base, a large washer did not help, it wobbled a lot, and then was never used again. If you look at one of those designs, pass it over. Thankfully, this one is a solid one piece base. We inherited another cat, and there goes the furniture and attempts at training again. Bought two of these. Bases are sturdy and stable and our cats are using them instead of the furniture. I did get some of the sticky plastic sheets for the furniture, and will cover the favorite spots, but these alone have helped. If you can't get the cat to go to the scratching post, put a scratching post where they are. Hope this helps Jim

Kitty approved!
My old sisal scratching post had seen better day's and the sisal was just hanging off in strands. Julia is a aggressive scratcher. I replaced that one with a new post from the local big name store not realizing it was made with sea grass. Never again; it didn't take long at all before that was shredded.Julia and my other kitties love this scratcher. It's extremely durable and is barely showing any signs of heavy wear and tear after a few month's.I really like that this is a taller scratcher so the kitties can stretch out while scratching at it.When this scratcher has seen better day's I will definitely be replacing it with this same scratching post. I'll have to see if the company sells just the post as a replacement which would be even better.

Scratching post
This was a replacement for my cat’s scratching post. The base is larger than her old post. I think that gives it more stability but is also in the way. I had to move it to a different location. The jute holds up pretty good on this type of scratching post, and my cat uses it a lot.

Good deal for the price
As other reviews have said, yes, this is not quality scratcher. The bottom is particle board, a few staples are visible at the top from where the twine was attached, and the rope is beginning to fray a little bit where my cat's claws dig in the most. However, for $15, I give it 5 stars. If it was $40, I would probably give it 3.It's a decent size, tall enough that even larger cats can get a good stretch in, and the carpet on it is very soft and differently textured from floor carpet, which is a very valuable quality when you're trying to teach a 7 month old stray that the floor is not okay to scratch but the scratcher is. My set came with the carpet "cap" already on the tube and was a breeze to assemble, even including the twisty thingy you need to screw the bolt through the particle board and into the tube.I've only had it for a few weeks, but it retains its original stability and shows no signs of breaking or falling apart. Like I mentioned, I do have a 7 month old kitten, so this may not be sturdy enough for a very large cat that's an avid scratcher.I originally bought this because I wasn't sure if the my kitten would prefer cardboard or twine. He seems to prefer clawing the cardboard scratcher, but he appreciates using this to stretch and occasionally claw. His favorite use of this post is pouncing on it, climbing up, and biting the top, which is a testament to its at least moderate stability. As an overview, I would definitely buy this again or reccomend it to friends as long as their cats don't go ham on scratching posts. Felix approves of its pounce capacity.

Cat loves it
I like everything about it. It’s a convenient size and made well. Perfect for a small to medium kitty. I’d buy it again.

Lightweight, about as sturdy as $20 will buy
We got the one with the platform on top thinking our gal might like a place to sit. Unfortunately, as soon as our rotund girl jumped off the top, it just about toppled over. Good thing I was right there! It’s sort of wobbly and unstable even without a cat on it, so we knew the platform was a no go.We removed the top but needed to cover up the screw so we added a silicone tumbler boot and some duct tape. With the addition of some dangling toys from our personal collection, it’s now a pretty good scratching post. :) it’s not bad, but it’s cheap and not super sturdy, so I wouldn’t recommend the one with the platform unless you have a kitten or something. We have other cat trees and just needed a scratching post in the bedroom to deter our kitty from scratching the bed, so this will fill the need for now.

Good for larger cats
Most of the lower price scratching posts are made for kittens or small cats. I have 3 cats that are longer in length, and 2 of them weigh around 20 pounds. So the typical cheaper scratching post was usually too short for them and they would push it around the room as it was flimsy. This one is a good height and is fairly sturdy, though I do have it pushed up against a piece of furniture just because that's the best placement for it beside my couch where they were trying to scratch. A large cat might be able to push it around or knock it over if they wanted to or were aggressive while scratching. But overall I'm really happy with this product at this price point and I will probably repurchase when it wears out or if I need one for another area of my home.

El mejor!
Muy buen rascador. Mucho más resistente del que teníamos antes. Grueso, alto, con un pez (con el que juega mucho) y una base muy mullidita. Ideal!

Sturdy and tall.
My cat loves this. Nice and chunky, he can really attack it without it falling over. The first thing he does when he comes in is use it, luckily leaves the furniture and carpets alone.
