Our child especially liked the articles on the playing techniques
It is about 10 pages, with interesting articles on composers, playing techniques, instruments etc. It also includes quizzes and puzzles based on the articles. Our child especially liked the articles on the playing techniques. In one of the articles they discussed slow playing that showed the difficulty involved in it and the various things to pay attention to. They include compositions of other children, and that encouraged our child to think about it. :)

Rip-off. Payed for a year and received four months.
I received four issues and then they stopped coming. A waste of money.

Wonderful resource
I have subscribed for years--not only do I give out the issue to students when it comes in, I also file the extras by composer name and give it to them when they start a piece by a specific composer. My students fill out a background summary on the featured composer that they then keep in a notebook for future reference. I used to make cassette tapes of relevant compositions to illustrate each composer's style (see, I told you I had used these for many years!) Now students can go to the website and listen to examples. I have also had a couple students enter the composition contest. I love the "hundred days of practice" opportunity. I love that other instruments and concepts are covered. Including suggestions from actual students (in their own words) is also a plus. I think this is an outstanding value for the money and I applaud the creativity of the editors keeping the content engaging after all these years. It would be nice to see more current artists/composers included, but that's about all I could think of for a critique.

A great student magazine
This magazine is designed for piano students not teachers as the other reviewer mistakenly thought. It is a 16-page publication with interesting bios of composers and music history to spark students' interest. Although intended for piano students, many of the articles feature information that is of interest to students who play other instruments. My kids love the puzzles and games that are based on the articles. If you know a young piano student, get them this great magazine.
