Great craftsmanship and features at this pricing tier
I spent so much time going through reviews, demos, play of the SE line from PRS, going back and forth between if I should spend a lot more than I can justify as a hobby player and get an S2 or a Core. I'm glad I stuck with my price range and picked up an SE Custom 24. I'm a long-time strat / tele player and those are really the only guitar formats I've owned.Having consumed practically all the reviews, seeing all the comments on the build quality of the SE line, how well it comes ready to play straight from the factory, I took a shot and got one on Amazon for a bit better price than I could get locally (mostly due to my Amazon Prime credits). Was still a bit nervous buying sight unseen, so to speak, and not the exact one I vetted in person at a store. However, it's safe to say, as near as makes no difference, this totally met expectations. Says a lot about either PRS or modern factory high-volume guitar manufacturing in general.Highlights:The bridge is great -- very comfortable design. Fretboard, was pleased and surprised to find was rolled a bit around the edges -- great for comfort. Excellent weight and well balanced, no headstock dives. Finish is fantastic (I got faded blue burst); really like the natural / unpainted neck, headstock, and back contrast to the top finish. Plays VERY nicely -- again, as a strat / tele player 95% of the time, I took note of the slightly wider fretboard, giving just a bit more space. It's barely noticeable, but measures just wider than my Fender Strat fretboard... identical width to my Epiphone EJ200 acoustic.Pickups sound good -- not quite great, yet, but I am sure I can tease some great tone out of them. As mentioned, I've mostly been playing single coils my whole life, all my tones and settings are attuned to that at moment. Did lower the pickups a bit. For what it's worth, when using the coil split (tap?), I get some very familiar strat / tele tones -- bridge sounds very close to tele bridge pickup, neck is passable as neck/middle switch 4 position when running as single coil, which I adore. Push pull tone pot coil split works great -- no drop in volume switching from humbucker to single coil, great feature for this guitar. Also, very robust push / pull pot, no looseness or wiggle. Tone knob turns a bit quicker than the volume.Lowlights:Okay -- these aren't really lowlights. But there's always something. I was surprised to find the action set so high, particularly when MANY reviews commented that it was set low from factory. I was measuring 2mm on low E, 1.5 on high E. That's not really "low" action to me, at least not for electric guitar. Also, intonation was not great. I noted by ear (and I do not have the sharpest ear) the low E, G, and B strings were running sharp. Checked against a high quality tuner, sure enough, they were running quite sharp. Each string was a little sharp, but these ones were obvious even to my ear. Fortunately, I have radius and action gauges and a screw driver for the saddles and am familiar enough doing these setups, and I got it setup to my liking.Examining very closely the whole body, everything looked very sharp. the binding was excellent. Did notice a tiny, tiny blemish along the line between the paint and natural finish (might be visible in picture).Anyway -- not at all surprised I needed to lower the action or found intonation issue. It takes my preferred action well... even closer to my preferred level, no fret buzz, no choking out on bends, no issue with natural sustain. I'll fiddle with it more when I change the strings to my preferred gauge. As you can see, even these minor issues -- perfectly expected for a guitar at this price range -- it does not diminish my overall impression and satisfaction. 5 stars!

Almost perfect
My second guitar from Detroit Guitars via Amazon. Delivered in perfect condition. As another reviewer noted, there is a tiny white line along the maple cap and the veneer top on mine as well. I actually think it is the edge of the veneer which did not get covered by the stain. Covered by the clear coat so should not be an issue. Upon further inspection of my second SE Custom 24 35th edition in black and gold, the same edge of the veneer is visible in a lighter color. A product of the production process.

Beautiful craftsmanship and playability
I had been wanting a PRS for decades but never was able to afford one. I saw this beautiful 35th Anniversary model at a price point I could finally get behind. The fretboard and action played like butter. The sound from the pickups is classic PRS, and the coil tap feature is nice to have, although I don’t find myself using it as much as I thought I would. Everything is incredibly easy to adjust- from the action to the tension on the tremolo arm- I set it up to exactly how I wanted it. The locking tuners are an awesome feature! I never knew something like this existed- I was used to the locking nuts on Floyd Rose systems, which were an absolute pain. This makes string changes a snap, and the guitar stays in tune even when you are using the tremolo arm. The finish is absolutely beautiful. This guitar is more like a museum piece, but it sounds too good to sit behind glass. Love it.
