Almost . . . Certain Jeopardy
If you want authentic military thrills, Captain Jeff Struecker teams with author Alton Gansky to put together an intense story about a journey to Venezuela that morphs into something totally unexpected, acutely dangerous and, as things go terribly awry, with little chance of succeeding. Going from observation status to "certain jeopardy" involves the separate kidnapping of Hector Cenobio, a respected nuclear physicist, and his wife and two young children organized by Islamic terrorists from Iran and an upper minister in the Venezuelan government.Six Special-Ops men get "the call". Team leader is at a civilian doctor's appointment, one team member is mountain biking with his brother, and one must leave his pregnant wife and young children, while the others all respond with the requirement to be at headquarters within an hour. They all arrive, joke around, receive their instructions, their comnmercial flights, and are on their way. There's a secret meeting at a local family restaurant which results in a murder. When the murder is tied to the mission, the mission radically changes and everything ratchets up for the six Americans. The discovery of a past failure of one team member's actions to get a critical instruction taken care of causes the danger to amp up and sends the group into premature actions, putting everything at risk. With death seeming like a real option to each member of the team, the mission requires constant improvisation and critical decision making on the fly.Meanwhile back at home, the teenage son of the team's leader has a major chip on his shoulder and gives his mother grief after frequent arguments with his father, the pregnant wife of the assistant team leader is about to lose her baby and possibly her life, an argument with his ex-wife over child-support precedes the mission for another team member, and life strains at both ends for these families.Certain Jeopardy is filled with tension, conflict, and the need for impossible decision making. Well-written and a genuine thriller, Captain Struecker and Alton Gansky make an incredibly cohesive team and present a believable scenario of Spec-Ops soldiers in horrific situations, doing all they can to make the mission work under impossible conditions.I must admit as per my usual conduct where the military is involved, there were plenty of tears shed toward the end of this story. Christianity is presented perfectly as a way of life for individual characters with equal exposure given to those who don't believe. Resolutions of faith for the unbelievers were left open for another story.Highly recommend Certain Jeopardy published by B&H Publishing Group for thriller readers - especially those like me who admire the military and Spec-Ops.

Five stars realism, action, humor and thrills!
Not having read this authors work in the past I wasn't sure what to expect. Well did i ever get a huge surprise! This story was so believable, so real that I felt I was part of the action. I could not have participated or stood on the sidelines for my heart to have beat any faster. Including the family POV made the characters even more life like. The Christian point of view was gently expressed but spoken so well that it is enjoyable even for non-Christians. "Certain Jeopardy" is a military rescue full of action and thrills. This is the type novel that makes me so very proud of our US Armed Forces, the men and women who work hard to protect our country. I look forward to more of this authors work!!:

HONEST INSIGHT OF MISSION AND HOMEFRONT WHILE GONE
Very well done, so real, the plot flowed, characters were great. The mission were so believable without getting bogged down into details. The emotion after a tough assignment was superb, honest straight forward. As was their. belief, strong without preaching. The home life of this men, you were a part of them there fears, there tears. Even to the children, rebelling, but what is going on with them, the fear, and how to handle. Looking forward to the next book.

Hard to put down!
Superbly written, kept me guessing and suspenseful right to the end. While fiction, the book sheds light on the brave, sacrificial military that protects our country. Plus, it’s a good commentary on team dynamics and the mercy of the Lord God in our lives.

Great writing partnership
Captain Jeff Struecker, a decorated former US Ranger, and Alton Gansky, award-winning author, have teamed up to produce a novel that is filled with action and populated with unforgettable characters. While a clandestine operation is taking place in Venezuela, drama continues on the home front as families battle with the problems created by the absence of their loved ones.Despite its setting, the novel deals with emotions and decisions with which the reader can identify. There's tension on every page, and I found myself coming back to this book in every spare moment, anxious to see how the story would unfold. There were mixed emotions when I turned the last page--satisfaction at a story well-told and sadness that there was no more to read. But I hear there's a sequel in the works, and I look forward to reading it. Soon, I hope.

Edge of your seat military drama
Captain Jeff Struecker tells a story that makes you feel like you ARE part of the story. This first book in a series about a Spec Ops group is the introduction to a group of men who serve their country and face challenges that they can never speak of. They have families and loved ones who know nothing of what they do but stand by them through it all. This is a story that starts at slow speed and jets you into max drive all the way to the end.Once you start reading it you will NOT want to put it down. It is military drama/suspense at its best.

I was disappointed to find the rest of his fictional books are ...
I was pleasantly surprised to read this fictional plot line by Jeff. After completing this book, I was disappointed to find the rest of his fictional books are not yet available in E-reader format. For readers unfamiliar with the author, he is one of America's real heroes for his leadership, survival, and heroic deeds during the battle depicted in the movie "Blackhawk Down." Drawing on real-life experiences as an Army Ranger, he is able to tell stories that are believable and suspenseful.

Believable spy thriller
This felt like an inside look at not only the undercover Special Ops mission, but the behind-the-scenes lives of the families of the team. Nothing felt beyond belief. Nothing felt contrived. The story unfolded so each turn and twist was easy to follow but there was always a surprise around the next corner. This reminded me not only of the danger the soldiers face, but the uncertainties in the families that are left behind. I will definitely look for more by these authors.

Exciting, Believable and Enthralling!
In “Certain Jeopardy” Sergeant Major Eric Moyer and his Special Ops team are sent to Venezuela on a recon mission to gather intelligence on a suspected Al-Qaeda training facility being set up. What they don’t expect is to uncover the abduction of a nuclear weapons expert and his family.Intensity and suspense mount with Venezuela’s power-hungry foreign minister about to trade Dr. Hector Cenobio to Iraq, as Sgt. Major Eric Moyer must make a critical decision whether to rescue his family, held hostage in the training facility. Fast-paced and action-packed emotions run high as the Special Ops team make decisions that will have them chased by cars, helicopters and killers while working with the Navy to escape. Adding to all the exciting military action and intriguing twists including the capture and torture of two team members, the plot sparks with emotional tension within their families as one of their wives faces a life and death decision, another the rebellion of a teenage son, and the discovery of a health problem left unresolved.Well-written, compelling, and realistic as Captain Jeff Struecker’s real life combat experience resonates throughout the plot, there is a strong sense of the team’s commitment to their duty and to each other. Even amid the violence there is also an unquenchable strand of faith as the men look for hope amidst the gunfire, torture and wounding of one of their own. With the power of characters not soon forgotten and the strength of a plot that keeps you absorbed from beginning to end, all too quickly the story progresses to a credible but sad ending.I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend “Certain Jeopardy”, a thrill-ride you won't put down until finished. I look forward to reading more by the Struecker/ Gansky writing team.
