Falcon Mercenary Book 2
Into the Lair is the 2nd installment of Maya Banks' paranormal Falcon Mercenary Group series. The first was Into the Mist and I would definitely recommend reading them in order. This book centers on the two unstable shape shifting brothers Ian and Braden. Unlike Eli and Gabe, Ian and Braden are not stable shifters and often have to be sedated like Tyana's brother, every time a shift comes upon them. The Falcon Mercenary group joined with Eli's team of shifters to track down Esteban who was the mad scientist who messed with their genes in the first place. When Gabe (a member of Eli's team) dies he begs Ian and Braden to find his little sister Katie (whom he kept hidden from everyone) because Esteban wants Katie for his own experiments. Esteban figures that if Gabe was stable then Katie as his genetic sister would have a greater chance to be stable as well, add to that that she's a female with viable eggs and you have one sick man chasing after godlike dreams. While setting up Katie as bait (with out her knowledge of course, men are so dumb) Ian and Braden find themselves both falling for her. It seems as if their panther and jaguar are falling for her as well. The only thing Katie keeps close to her heart is what Gabe taught her... to never trust anyone. This makes for an uneasy threesome!Out of 10 dirty erotic points, this one hits at a 7 or 8. The explicit scenes are more graphic and dirtier then Into the Mist. Plus there's two of them! Twice as much... fun! So be aware of that when delving into this book. Keep in mind though that Maya Banks is a clever author and never lets the sex get out of hand. The plot is always in the forefront of the novel and the characters make the sex scenes not the other way around!

Cat Scratch Fever
Maya Banks has done it again. Ian and Braden in hot pursuit of Gabe's sister to save and use her as bait to smoke out Estaban turned the tables on them. Katie had been mostly on her own for seemed like forever. All she had was Gabe and his only brotherly advice was "Don't trust anyone." She lead Ian and Braden a merry chase, but in the end she was their anchor ... and their HEA.There is no cure, and Eli was not actually affected. So many twists while everyone is trying to track Esteban and find the cure for the unpredictable shifts happening the others, only to find there is no cure. Esteban was a shifter as well....only he was born one. That is all that I'll give away since this has more twists than a pretzel and you should read it for yourself and join the adventure unfolding. Two thumbs up!

Not as good as Mist
I would still recommend this book - but I did like Into the Mist better.Well, we did not really get to know Gabe in the last book and after reading this book I think the guy was basically a jerk. Katie has never had a good or loving relationship - so I can get the trust issues, but please... the constant running was overkill for me.Now Ian and Branden do make it worse - heaven forbid that they open their mouths and actually talk with Katie.Keeping the shifting a secret is not possible and Katie does react pretty well. But if you think that Ty was tough, I think that Katie is actually alittle tougher. She is put through the wringer (over and over). The sex takes a bit of a dark turn, Katie likes it rough and Ian / Branden are up for that. This is not a little spanking, more rough - you better be ready. However Ian and Branden are also loving and willing to give Katie some soft moments.Loved the D teaser in this. Really want to read his story. The twist with Esteban was alittle hinky for me. Wish they really explained how he escapes with Katie and more back story on him. Almost wishing for a different ending. He goes from a creepy smary insane guy to hmmm - if only...Wish Ian had more of a breakthrough like Branden does. But did love that all of the main character from In the Mist were in this book. So, guess that we have not seen the last of Ian/Branden/Katie.

It's okay
Now I've read this book before and my recollection let me buy it again cause I thought it was spectacular. Did I feel that way this go around....nope. It's an okay read. I like my menages more angst-y and more possessive. This fell a little short for me. Not predictable but not a rollercoaster either. I wasn't really engaged...I kept reading to find out what I fell in love with the first time and unfortunately I couldn't find it.

Bait and Switch
The first book in this series was great and normal for a paranormal romance. This book was straight erotica and a genre of erotica that I am not interested in reading. If I wanted that type of book I would have searched within that genre. It's deceptive to switch up on book two.I found this book to have little romance. It was a lot of sex and then the writer decided that the H,H, and h had a caring relationship because she wrote that they did. The actions however did not match the words and left me with feeling like this was just empty soft porn. I'm very disappointed and will not be continuing this series. I can only hope she doesn't mess up the KGI series.

Wonderful!
I absolutely LOVE this book! The story is fantastic, the love scene hot & steamy, and it is totally worth taking the time to read! The author made me care for every single one of the characters and can't wait to find out what happens next!Unfortunately, she isn't writing the rest of the series, due I THINK, to that fact that she doesn't have the rights back yet from the publisher. If she ever gets them back, I would definitely buy the rest.Highly recommended!

Pretty awesome
Man, this is shaping into an awesome series, I'm sad there's no more. I've thoroughly enjoyed it so far. Great characters that I can't wait to see how their stories are told. A couple of people said that this story was cold and too sexual, but I thought it was perfect.

Steamy, cat shifter novel from a favorite of mine, maya banks
This isn't my first Maya Banks novel and it certainly won't be my last. I would even say I enjoyed this one more than some of the others I've read, mainly because the panther, tiger, cheetah shifting. The steamy romance was a nice addition too.Braden, Katie, and Ian were all very intriguing characters that I found to be very likable and compelling.I wish there were more in this series!

Disappounted
I read - and reviewed - the first book in this series, which I enjoyed. This second book has the same characters and main theme, but that's the only similarity. It started fairly well, although I found it hard to connect to the main characters. There's a lack of finer details that gives depth to the people and the story. The exception is the sex scenes; there's a feeling the author couldn't wait to get to this part and to hell with the rest. The first book provided a good read through the characters, sex and storyline. This second lacks most of that and falls into the common shifter/threesome -sex. Could have been a decent series.
