The Berenstain Bears Visit the Firehouse

Entertaining Book
My grandson loves the Berenstain Bears, and this is a book he's asked for ever since he first saw the cover on the back of another Berenstain Bear book because he has visited firehouses. It is a great book for a young child who has visited a firehouse or seen a fire truck.

Perfect for any BB fan or child that loves firetrucks!
Just received this book last night and read it with my 6 year old. He loves these books and was so excited to read a new one!It was easy reading and had interesting facts about a firehouse. We learned about 3 different kinds of fire trucks which he thought was cool and the different tools that are found on the firetrucks. The only thing I would have changed, was the fact that the cousin took them to ride on a fire truck to an actual fire, which was not realistic or safe in my opinion. Other than that, I thought the book was great!Perfect for any BB fan or child that loves firetrucks! This is NOT one of the Berenstain Bears Living Lights/christian books, just FYI.

Had to pull sticks to see which student got to read it next
My students like the book so much that I had to pull sticks to see which one got to reread the book and keep it in their desk. Once that was decided, then it was on for the students to ask the student "when you are finished can I have it?"

Colorful
This taught my granddaughter not to be afraid of the fire whistle.

Why did they have to include this
Overall this is a good book with a fun story to introduce children to different aspects of being a fireman and what their day to day lives look like.We are very picky about the books we let into our home and so this may not be a deal breaker for most people but if you are like me, and your shelves are abundant in reading material, you have to start raising the standard cause you just don't have room for everything. This is why the book was a no for our family:The bear family is touring the fire station and learning about how the firemen live. They get to see the fire pole that they use to slide down when they are called to go fight a fire. They could have just left it there but instead after the family moves on Mother Bear decides to slide down the pole even though they were told it is only for the firemen. She even admits she shouldn't have done it cause she knew it could be dangerous but she did it anyway. It wasn't an act of defiance but more of curiosity. They could have had her ask, or had an offer be made and got to the same conclusion but instead she just does it when nobody is looking. The inclusion of this very unnecessary scene made it a no for us. If you wanted to use it to bring up issues of respect for others or practicing self control even when you're curious that would be a good resource for that but I was just looking for something that was simple and straightforward and that's why I gave only 4 stars.
