HELMER in Wall Stereo Audio Amplifier Black, U1

The media could not be loaded.  So I installed this unit yesterday. Had to modify a blank plate since I was installing in a block wall. The unit is a little flimsy but ok. This is the only high voltage unit that I could find so this is what I have to work with. I bought this to power outdoor speakers in my pool area so we shall see how it hold up.Bluetooth - it works. You have to go into your phone and select as it will not auto connect. Not a major deal but a pain. Once paired you just need the remote to volume up and down and skip songs so that is a plus. The volume is a little lower using Bluetooth compared to the radio.Radio is great as long as you have good stations.Aux not tested yet but will. I do not have any doubt it will work fine.Sound - I really can not review really well as it could be the older outdoor speakers I have. Yes I am using outdoors under a covered porch. I do have to have the unit turned way up just to hear 1-15 and can start hearing at about 5.I would recommend this unit only because there is nothing else out there that I have found. It will work for for having music while sitting on the porch drinking a beer or floating in the pool.

For starters, the Bluetooth from your phone makes the volume about half as quiet as the radio or other inputs, even with my phone volume turned all the way up. Then, it has about a 10 foot range before you lose Bluetooth connection. It doesn’t auto connect to your device, so you have to connect it every time via Bluetooth in your phone. And for the money I paid, it’s an extremely basic setup…there’s a “screensaver” that is just a background until it turns to the time. And THAT’S about as fancy as it gets folks. Not at all pleased with how much I paid for it. Wish I could say better. Install was easy? That’s it.

It comes with a drywall back box, not complicated for my electrician to install. It looks really nice and with the touch screen, it’s much easier to control. The only thing is that I will have to keep a microSD card in the device for saving FM stations but it doesn’t matter too much as I saved my preferred songs in the same card. The Bluetooth works great, the sound is perfect and loud enough for my room. I’m considering to order another one for my garage.

Was not sure if it's the unit or speakers? Solid core core 12 guage copper and all new speakers, still sounds incredibly bad. Not going to bother with replacement as this is a 120 volt unit (also not what I expected as I was searching for 12 volt DC) so will replace this after deciding the quality is poor. The user interface is also lacking. A lot. You cannot adjust sound EQ type while in an input function. So if in radio, aux or Bluetooth and you leave the input screen for the EQ the sound turns off. Really a poor user experience all around.

I think this unit is overpriced for what it offers. I would have given it a higher rating if it was capable of reading a playlist or at the very least allow the user to organize music files by folders. I have hundreds of music files that I placed on a USB drive and organize them by genre. When I placed the USB drive into this Helmer unit it did not recognize my folders and lumped all of the music together. There is no way to select a playlist or a folder to play from the hundreds of music files I loaded onto the USB drive. It is very inconvenient to skip and search through hundreds of song titles.

I purchased this product because I the features it offers. However, the quality of the sound is unacceptable. I replaced these units with the HELMER in Wall Audio Amplifier, Wall Mount Bluetooth Receiver, in-Wall Stereo Audio Volume Controller, White, L50. Less features, but reliable.

Device is good. Also, you can change the wallpaper by creating two FOLDERS (in the manual it says files) named miniwallpaper and wallpaper. Accepted file format is .jpg. Place a 130px version (ex. bp10.jpg) in the miniwallpaper then a 480px version (bg10.jpg) in the wallpaper. You can also change the boot logo (welcome screen). The format for the boot logo is a jpg 480px. The file name should be boot_logo.jpg. Place the file into the root of the sdcard. Put the sdcard into the devices sd slot. Select the boot_logo,jpg from the prompt. Let it update. After its done, you need to remove the boot_logo.jpg from the sdcard or else it will keep asking to update the file.

2 Cons, you have to stay in the bluetooth menu to stay paired to a Bluetooth device, and You cannot pair this with an Alexa via Bluetooth to stream music., not exactly sure why, but i verified this on the Q&A from the Helmer site. If i would have known this i would have reconsidered my purchase
