EXCELLENT!
I read the "bad" reviews first, as is my MO, and went into this feeling skeptical. I followed the directions, and it worked FAR better than any expectations I had, which were low. I used it on a pair of off-white J. Crew, super cute, cargo pants that I had inadvertently placed on a pair of red pants. I had washed those red pants many times, never expecting them to continue "bleeding," but when I saw my off-white cargo pants, I almost screamed! There were red stains everywhere on those pants, and I was about to throw them out...but first I tried to bleach them. Absolutely nothing happened WITH BLEACH! Then I searched Amazon, this product popped up, and voila! Not a remnant of any red dye on those off-white cargo pants! Not a glimpse, not a hint, nothing. Like it never happened, as if I just bought those pants. So, please follow the directions - you might have better luck. You also need to use the hottest water possible - just FYI!!

Pleased!
This product claims to take out colors that have bled in previous laundry cycles. I had ruined one of my husband's favorite polo shirts, and didn't catch the stains before I put it through the dryer. I also had a blue/white striped shirt with a pink stain. I put both shirts in my washer with a pack of Carbona, and they came out spotless! The one negative was the smell - sort of a rotten egg aroma. It was pretty bad, but it disappeared when I rewashed the clothes (as directed) before drying them. No harm, no foul.Note: the directions are for either hand washing or doing a top load machine cycle with a chosen water level. My machine is an HE model, and I can't choose the water level, nor can I dissolve the product as directed before adding the clothing (the lid locks and the machine automatically drains when I try to open it mid-cycle). I got around this by dissolving the Carbona in a container of hot water, pouring it in my machine, adding the clothes, and running the cycle. It took some contortions, but I'm glad I tried.I highly recommend this product.

Didn't take the pink out of my whites this time!
I don't know if they've changed the formula on this. I doubt it because it still smells the same sort of unpleasant chemically smell that it always used to. But I just accidentally washed some whites with one red thing and they all turned pink. I didn't dry them. I just bought six of these as I normally would. They came the next day, so I was able to do a Color Run removal wash almost immediately after accidentally staining the items, which were still wet. And yet none of the color came out. I used all of them over two washes. It says you might have to repeat a wash to get all the color out, which I've never had to do before when I've made a mistake like this, but I bought enough to do two, and when it didn't come out the first time I did it a second time.Still not a drop of color was removed. I've given up and just accepted that the sheets for my guest bed are now going to be pink.I'm quite concerned, because this stuff always worked before, and I don't think I'm going to stop making this mistake every year or two. So if I can't rely on carbona, what am I going to use to get the pink out of my lighter colors when a red sock or something accidentally winds up in with the whites? I could always rely on carbona to take out the color run without harming the pattern on whatever it was I'd ruined. Apparently that is no longer the case.

It worked when nothing else did!
I don't often leave product reviews, but I'm so pleased with this stuff. I had a new white shirt that -- the first time I washed it -- got a light blue color run from something else in the laundry (because I'm too lazy to separate lights and darks... my bad). I tried OxiClean, OxiClean White, and hydrogen peroxide, all of which had been recommended online, and that stain did not budge one but from any of it. So bummed because it was a great shirt that I found second hand on Poshmark, not easy to replace. This was my last ditch effort. The instructions say to soak the material in it with 3-4 gallons hot water for 1 to 2 minutes and repeat if needed. I ended up needing to do it a little bit longer, after about 4 minutes the stain was markedly lighter and maybe 90% removed; after another three or four minutes it was completely gone. Very effective, and I'm a very happy customer.

Didn't work and takes 3 boxes to follow instructions unless you hand wash
I've never tried Carbona before so I had no idea what to expect, but was disappointed to see it didn't work even a little. To be fair, the instructions said to use 3 packs/boxes if using the washer instead of hand washing so I used 1/3rd the level of water since it was only a couple of shirts. So perhaps that's why it didn't work. Still, I gave it 3 stars because they should have made it more clear that I should be buying 3 boxes in which case I wouldn't have wasted my money even trying. It also has a gross smell, but I guess that's to be expected.
