I purchased this to use as a functional prop for my son’s chess theme birthday table. I’m please that it is durable for him to keep for continued use. This is a nice set for the price. The magnets hold strong enough and overall this set is nice for weekend travel. Definitely recommend.

Great Travel Board

I choose a travel set where the pieces are made out of plastic for one reason. If you look at the detail of the plastic pieces versus a similarly priced wood set, the plastic wins. Now as for how well this set will travel I have some doubts. If you carefully lift the set and turn it up ninety degrees the king will slide off the board, the white one anyway. I don't know that the magnets are strong enough to stay in play during a car ride. But with that said I would recommend the set for purchase.

I love this portable chess board. My family and I take it anytime we are going on a vacation. It's easy to use and has the letters/numbers for algebraic notation. The magnets are strong enough to keep the pieces on the board.

Did this set make me better at chess? No. Does it light up the room? No. Will people fight over it when I am gone? Doubtful. Buy it anyways. It's well worth the price.
