Ugandan Gold's "Sipi Falls" coffee is grown on the slopes of Mount Elgon at an altitude of 6000 to 6500 feet. This is close to the maximum altitude for Arabica and, as the experts well know, the higher the coffee the better the "body". This means full aroma and a good depth of flavors which include "dried fruit, citrus, toasted nuts, caramel. Finish is sweet and clean". This is not our opinion, it is the opinion of one of the leading coffee analysts in the world. So it's a great coffee..... but that's not the real story. It's this. All the profits from the sale of all Ugandan Gold coffees, including Ugandan Gold "Sipi Falls" coffee, are returned to Uganda which is one of the most impoverished countries in the world. The money is used to provide clean water using our own drilling rig which means one of our boreholes is a fraction of the cost of the "commercial" rigs. A significant contributor to Uganda's poverty is its poor crop yield record. So in addition to water, we also provide funds for organic fertilizers and mentor the farmers in their use. Where we have been involved yields have doubled and we've only just started. This improvement has been achieved in maize (corn), rice, soybeans, peanuts, varietal beans and coffee. Yes, proper fertilization really improves both the yield and the quality of coffee. That means increased income for the farmers. So enjoy Sipi Falls coffee from Ugandan Gold and know that you are helping improve the lives of others with every delicious sip.
