Our favorite Amazon purchase to date! This big beautiful mailbox arrived quickly, and was assembled within just a few minutes… Well, that is, minus the one mistake I made by putting the back panel on before the roof! Assembly: In my opinion, the instructions were not really clear about the order of snapping the mailbox panels together. Common sense doesn’t work here. This is NOT, “four walls & then the roof.” Look at the instructions carefully before you begin!! I typically work best by illustrations, but the enclosed drawings were dominated by a lot of directional arrows. I’ll admit my ADHD may have taken over during my excitement about finally getting a new mailbox, but a few bolded words advising the roof goes on BEFORE the final back panel would be most helpful. (I hope this review info helps someone.) While I snapped two fingernails trying to carefully pry the back panel off, then, correctly finish the mailbox assembly… my husband went outside to remove our rotted 80’s mailbox & prepare the post. The instructions advise leaving 3ft of your existing 4”x4” post above ground for the new hollow plastic mailbox post to slip over. Once he finished this task with a handsaw (in the 115° heat index), the rest of our extreme mailbox upgrade was completed in a jiffy! One final tip: the mailbox magnet is VERY strong, and requires a lot of force to open the door. To keep our mail carrier from aggressively yanking on the door/box too hard, we placed a small piece of tape on one side of the magnet latch to reduce the strength a bit. Opinion: This is a lovely, large, sturdy, and weather resistant mailbox that should last for years. Worth every penny!

I read nearly every review for this mailbox and checked out every picture. I wasn't sure how the color was going to look with our newly remodeled exterior, but it's perfect. It's a mocha latte brown color. This thing is pretty darn big, it can hold several parcels, plus mail, which our mail person loves. It's surprisingly lightweight, but once assembled and installed is quite solid. Magnetic closure keeps the door shut tight, even in gusty winds (50 mph). Was worried about it being truly weatherproof, but it has rained on and off for the past 4 weeks and not a drop has gotten inside. We couldn't be happier! Now for the tips: One reviewer mentioned the box was a little wobbly and suggested adding two additional screws near the top of the post cover, we followed his recommendation and it made it far more sturdy (well worth the extra two screws--see blue arrow on photo for extra screw location). We purchased the screws on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0986QX368/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1. We also used these screws to secure the 4x4 pressure treated post to the Simpson Strong-Tie Common 4-in x 4-in Powder-coated Wood To Wood Base (Model #FPBS44), which is simply driven into the ground with a sledgehammer (keeping it level) then the 4x4 is screwed into the post base and the mailbox exterior is placed over the top and secured per the enclosed instructions. For the price, you really can't beat this mail box, it's classy-looking and far more durable than it appears. We also bought the 3" reflective vinyl numbers on Amazon, they fit perfectly and are easy to see at night: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZD5VCHT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
