Age of Death

Another great addition
You learn some things in this book that you have been waiting for and he does it in a great way. Some great action scenes too! However, the plot overall did not move forward as much as I would have liked and this definitely did not need to be its own book. That being said, I've been reading his books since I bought the crown conspiracy 10 plus years ago and can't wait to see how it ends in the next book.

Such a disappointment
The other books in this series were very good. Five stars. This one, however was boring. Too much time spent in the afterlife. Nothing getting resolved. I regret spending my money on this. This book seems almost like filler. A way to get another $9 without having to do much of anything. I expected much better. I would recommend skipping this book. Just wait for the next one to come out.

Incredibly boring and uneventful
This book was so incredibly boring. I feel the entire book could have been three chapters. Nothing happened. Nothing was explained. After the past three books in the series I feel like the author is doing nothing but attempting to make more money by stretching everything out. Unfortunately he’s lost my interest in this series.

This book should have ended the story
I'm very disappointed with this book. There was a great deal of time spent making little progress, and I thought the story drug on at times. Finish this series, Michael, and move on please. I personally don't think this series holds a candle to Riyiria, and that's after a really promising start.

Quit now.
A bunch of people die, go to hell, suffer, ( not even interesting suffering) and talk, talk, talk. If you've started this series quit now and cut your losses. I finished the series out of curiosity and feel like I've been conned.

Another Cliffhanger
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this I've ended with another cliffhanger. At least it's only a week until the last book comes out.I still enjoyed this book, but it's just not quite as good as the earlier ones in my opinion. I think I liked our original protagonists the most, and they've all kinds of taken a back seat in the last couple books. I love all the characters though so I don't know. I guess it just seems less exciting because nothing has been resolved these last two books.I'm sure the last book is gonna have a big finish though and wrap things up nicely.

The fifth and final cliffhanger!
The knowledge that most of the characters in this installment spend their time behind the vale of death is pretty cool. It turnout to be more complicated (and interesting) than the traditional notions of the afterlife most readers may be familiar with.Additionally, another one of my favorite characters (Suri) is captive in the land of the Fhrey, where my least favorite character (Lothian) rules supreme. There's a heckuva lot of adventure, and quite a lot of mythology and teleology (perhaps too much?) in AGE OF DEATH. The two combine to make a compelling and thought-provoking read.

Wonderful additional have a love/hate for the cliff hanger... Yes it's intended
I was going to wait for the paperback to enjoy this as I have all the others but during the shut in I caved and bought the kindle version. This book delivers as all the others have in telling us a bit more of the story involving all of our favorite characters, yet manages to leave you craving the rest. Maybe it's knowing he has the series finished already drives me insane while waiting for the next installment. Either way this is a great read just wish it was longer but as the saying goes all good things must come to an end so this is just another example. Can't wait until May for the next chapter. I think I'll go reread the ones about my boys Royce and Hadrian now :)

very good as always
Michael J Sullivan is one of my favourite writers and he proved to us many times that he can create wonderful worlds and memorable characters. I also love how he treats his readers, we can see that this is the author that really cares fo our wishes. It's hard not to respect someone like that. This is the 5th novel in The Legends of the First Empire Series and if you've read the other 4, you already love the series so no spoiling anything I tell you, go read this book, it's brilliant. In this one we find out a lot more about a world and the gods and also we visit a realm of Death. And at the end it's another cliffhanger, but we won't have to wait much longer for the finale so it didn't bother me

A great continuation, some mysteries are starting to be unravelled...
So I read this in one sitting! I just had to know what happened next. This volume continued from where the last one left off and was a satisfying read as it answered some of those questions and is building up well to it's conclusion. I'm trying to write this without any spoilers. If you have read the previous books in this series this is a must read!
