Where to begin? These knives are razor-sharp as advertised AND they hold their edge quite well, even putting up with the abuse I (as a new whittler) gave them. They are ergonomic and obviously manufactured with care and quality control (unlike 99% of the "mystery brands" you see on Amazon these days). I love that this set includes a full-spread of knives, from chip carving to spoon/hook knives, you're set - everything you need is in this case, even polishing compound!The leather case is HANDSOME , super thick, gorgeous leather. I'd buy this set just for the case it's so nice. Beyond being pretty, it's nice because it protects your knives and more importantly protects YOU from them. There is no accidentally reaching in and cutting yourself with this case as there is an internal flap that lays over the blades you have to lift.I bought a chisel/gouge set from Beavercraft and a bunch of basswood too, i was so impressed. this set is affordable but nothing to scoff at in terms of quality; i think any seasoned carver would be happy to use these knives!I later found out this is a Ukrainian Company - all the more reason to support Beavercraft; small businesses like this are going to be the backbone of the new economy once the goblins are vanquished.Buy them. They're great!

Came sharp and ready to use. I'm new at wood carving altogether. These knifes seem to be good quality and fit easily in my big hands. The tool pouch is outstanding genuine leather and looks great. I haven't had these knifes long so I might possibly update this review. Don't forget to put your compound on you sharpening tool before use!

This is an excellent kit. It is well made and the tools are sharp and very functional. The leather case is excellent and well made. I am very pleased with the kit.

The blades were very sharp right out of the package. The leather tool roll is very well made and for me it seems a bit overly bulky.The variety of knives is great as I am learning about different carving techniques.I was really disappointed this morning when the hook knife snapped while I was scraping out the inside of a walnut spoon. I consider myself reasonably fit, but for this tool to break was a surprise. I had hollowed out the spoon with a Forster bit, then used paring knives to shape the hollow of the spoon. I was using the hook knife to shape things further and then *snap*I’ll be searching for another brand of hook-knife since this was my first purchase of this kind of tool and I’m not sure how durable they should be.Update: vendor reached out via Amazon and they are sending a replacement. Great service!Update#2 I received the replacement and the hook knife has been working great. Honestly I was expecting a replacement for just the hook knife- but I received a replacement of the full set I originally purchased. Vendor definitely went above and beyond!!

Good, heavy leather roll to protect your knives and whatever you store or carry with them, which is good. These came sharp, with only a little stropping needed to get to work. I was glad to see that they hadn't been lacquered, as some knives I've bought from other companies have been. Very nice set and I'd recommend them for beginner/intermediate carvers. And BeaverCraft is such a considerate company, they've included bandaids in every order I've purchased through them. LOL

I had a small issue with my order and Beavercraft reached out to me insistent that they make me 100% satisfied which they promptly did! What a fantastic company.Their knives are well made and came to me sharp and ready to go. The knives are easily to keep sharp. Just strop them a few times every 30 minutes or so while using and you will have clean, effortless cuts. The insane leather roll-up bag is worth the price paid for the whole kit! If you are just starting out and looking for a decent setup, this is the way to go!
