Made in China via LaCrosse, Wisc., according to the box. Still, it's sturdy and measures rain well.

It should work fine in any "open" area. You can stick it in the ground or mount on a post/fence. Just make sure not underneath a tree or something. Also make sure you mount it in a way that you can empty it after gaining the measure you are tracking.

Yes any screws that have a head smaller than the holes in the gauge base
