nur das umwickeln auf ein Knäuel stört etwas, aber das Stricken ist wunderbar

so, I'll start by saying the only real bad news i know of this yarn. if you were expecting perfectly smooth yarn for a perfectly expensive looking end product, this yarn has little fluffs here and there and (i should have taken some pictures as i was winding it but) it is ALL through out the product, plus there was one knot, so they aren't against the idea of tying two or more separate yarns to make a longer one. however, these are the only reasons i docked 1 star, everything else looks pretty good to my noobish eyes. you can see in my first picture, the skein you get is pretty big for what you are paying for (considering that it is supposed to be silk) with a normal sized ball point pen for comparison. The ball i wound it to is right next to it. it is very very smooth, very very silky, to the point where i am thinking i might have to rewind it onto a large spool to help protect it from it shifting around so much. my poor ball threatens to shift into knots just from moving it around from spot to spot. it also feels pretty strong, i haven't tested it's weight capacity or tensile strength but just holding it reminds me of the heavy duty thread I've sewn with and it's about the same thickness too. in my second picture i have some orange cotton embroidery thread for comparison of thickness, i believe that it is 6 ply, but i could be misremembering it's size (i buy lots of types of thread). in my third picture, I've added some white cotton heavy duty thread and you can see that it is about the same size, so it should be pretty good for visible mending. the colour and shine are also VERY beautiful. it's an off white, kinda eggshell white, i adore that my ball looks like a cocoon, I'm hoping that means this is real silk and even if it isn't, it is still very lovely to work with. i haven't sewn with it yet, but i have crocheted with it and the way it slides against itself and other fabric is very encouraging. in my forth picture, i have a tiny crocheted square to show its colour and shine in product form. it does seem to knot easily, but that's only because it is so slippery. I'm taking this as one of the proofs that this is real silk yarn.

The package looks good until you try and use it, the whole thing is tangled up and just a giant headache to even try and work with.

The product description lies. I got 282 yards of silk, not the 1000 yards I ordered. It is not even HALF as tightly spun as what is shown in the photo; very loosely spun and likely worthless for a weaving warp which is what I wanted it for. It is more like a stretched roving. I’m still going to try to use it for a different product, but it is NOT worth it.
