We went backpacking in Desolation wilderness, which calls for no gas and no wood fires. This fit the bill. Surprisingly great amount of heat. Very heavy addition to our bag, which we debated, but were all thankful for springing for it in the end. It started raining and both our tents were huddled up together under one tarp. We put this candle in-between and quickly the flame got too big. So, we grabbed some rocks from all around and made a little fire pit and put it in the middle (put a rock under it, too, as the base gets hot). We were super impressed! We even made s'mores!!! We got the eucalyptus one because we wanted natural bug repellent, but the smell was pretty awful in such an enclosed space. Might not be bad if no rain and no tarp, but I wish we brought one regular one to compare. It lasted more than 3 hours in the windy night (we used it the next morning for over an hour). Just top it and fire is out, no coals to leave a trace, nothing. Highly recommend for no fire areas as it is safe and gives you the camping feel!

This worked really well for our needs. I wasn’t looking to roast marshmallows or anything… Just wanted a campfire. I know others have said that the smoke makes the marshmallows turn black, so I can’t comment on that part, but it is easy to light, puts off a lot of heat, and looks really cool. I didn’t have any major issues with smoke or a bad smell, but I only used it in a very open space, so maybe that’s why. I’ve burned it a total of about 2 hours now, and it seems maybe half way used. I was worried that it would be too small, but it actually creates a pretty big fire, and it spreads heat at least 5 feet in every direction. I was also impressed by how easy it was to put out - just slide the lid on. I’d recommend bringing some sort of bag to carry it in - the can gets covered in soot. Overall, highly recommend!

Great item but only one arrived

Brilliant invention! Bought for husbands birthday, took to beach with kids - ideal for marshmallows and very portable. The lid puts flame out instantly so felt very safe but gives off a great heat. Delighted!

This portable fire was amazing. I bought it when I had a camping trip planned and there was a campfire ban in effect. It was great!! We even roasted a few marshmallows on this and it wasn't bad - there is quite a bit of soot, though. Still, it was totally worth the price. Super convenient, easy to put out, warm and cozy. I will definitely buy more of these to use in our backyard!
