Working as intended.
I bought this along with the New Nintendo 2DS XL that I got for my birthday. The product came as is and working like it's supposed to. The cable that came with it was okay, but I used my own which is a bit longer. I have no idea why some of the people here complain that it's a chore to use - if they used gameshark/cheat devices in the past, then they already know the extra steps needed when using it. It's not at all that hard to use and those complaining are just bellyaching because they're lazy AF. You can only use PHYSICAL copies of the games as you have to plug it in to the power save port that you connect to the PC - digital games you bought in the eShop won't work with this. You also need an internet connection because the codes are downloaded from their website to be able to use them to inject them into your game cartridge (you need to register in their website to make an account as well). As for the codes and website itself, it has MOST games codes for almost all of the popular 3DS games - but not ALL of them. I also wished they had codes for some of the older DS games that I wanna get, so it's not perfect in covering the entire library of DS and 3DS games. So the only nitpick I have is that it doesn't have codes to every single DS/3DS game ever made in the handheld's long lifespan.

Anyone who is complaining about NEW GAMES not having codes are honestly pathetic its a $6 charge for prime which is allowing you access to codes for a game THAT IS NOT ON THE PACKAGING!!!!!! NOT TO MENTION IF YOU HAD PATIENCE AND COULD WAIT YOU WOULDNT HAVE to PAY FOR PREMIUM (THEy EVEN GIVE YOU A COUNTDOWN CLOCK) it would be different if they didnt even have codes for the game .... but they do so stop complaining its sad or return your product because im sure they dont want to deal with your ignorance #WHYDONTYOUPLAYTHEGAME?? I digress this thing is awesome works perfect i have zero complaints i have been playing handhelds my entire life it allows you to have multiple saves on one cartridge (literally payed itself off in full(including the $6.50 for prime acccess) and then some saving me the purchase of another game ) -codes work great make sure to backup whenever you use a new one because it would be devastating to lose the amount of content and play hours ive put into some of my games -allows you access to event items/content you might have missed -alows you access to hundreds of different in game modification codes my honest opinion for consumers is do a little research on the product you plan on purchasing that way you know going into it the limitations those devices will have and you will end up alot more satisfied in the long run with your purchases i know i am

This is an amazing product. I am an avid player of monster Hunter and I cannot tell you how many times I have been frustrated by grinding for a freaking Rathalos plate or a Lagiacrus plate or even a Rathalos Ruby. The worst is the Diablos and his stupid majestic horn. All I need is that one stupid item to complete an armor set and I cannot tell you how frustrated it makes me by not getting it once through either capture or killing it 47 TIMES IN A ROW. Anyways, the actual thing is very different but very straightforward to using. You plug in the game into the cartridge holder and it comes with the cable but I was told not to use that cable. If you have another micro USB cable around, use that instead because apparently the cable it comes with is garbage. Anyways you're going to also need to download the program from the website, and as far as I can tell, my computer has not picked up any viruses from it. Once you open the program and plug in the game to your computer, it's gonna ask you what sort of things you're going to want. As a monster Hunter player, you'll see that It gives you money codes, resource points, the choice from some of the best G ranked equipment in the game, and it will have a section where you can supply the first 20 slots in your item box up to 99. If you scroll down a little bit further it'll also ask you for the first six items lots what kind of specific items you want, and everything goes. Everything from account items like easy pitfall traps and first aid meds to Uragaan rubies and Majestic horns. I am very sure it works with other games like Pokémon and all that as well, but bare in mind you must have the physical copy in order to use this product. If you only have a digital copy, it's not gonna work because it needs the actual cartridge in order for it to work.

Must-have for Animal Crossing completionists
I spent more than 500 hours building up my Animal Crossing town totally legit. I got plenty of rare DLC, but there are still so many unorderable items in the game it's irritating for someone who wants a complete catalog, and of course the rarest ones are the nicest for your house. If you are dying for these rare items to complete your catalog like I was, this is totally worth the $16. For ACNL in particular, it's hard to do because you only have 5 slots for items at a time: 1 is items, 2 is headgear/footgear, 3 is clothing, 4 is flooring and 5 is wallpaper. So if you want 50 rare items, you're gonna have to plug in the game, add it, load your game on your ds, get the items out of the slots, then save and do it all over again. It's tedious, but you only have to do it once. And if you have friends who want the items like you, it's nice because you can just save a copy of your game, give them your items, then reload the old copy, and all your items are back. There are tons of other 3DS games you can use this for as well, Pokemon is the major one, but there are tons of others. I bought mine in particular for ACNL, but I might give it a shot on other games. I saw several complaints about the cheap macro usb hardware, but it hasn't caused me any problems yet. Luckily macro usb isn't too hard to find (not as common as micro unfortunately) but if yours isn't working, you can just order another cord (or you might have an extra laying around your house somewhere). All in all, great hardware and software (the package includes instructions on where to download the software from, what games it supports, etc).

Solutions to common problems (and why I'm not satisfied)
The two most common problems reviewers have had is either connection for the hardware through the cable and recognition of cartridges. The solution to the first is simple, while the other is... less so. In order to maintain a steady connection between the hardware and the computer, discard the mini-USB included with the PowerSave and purchase one from another seller. The mini-USB included has poor connection and is the cause of the "hardware not found" messages as well as the flashing between connected and disconnected. The second issue, which is why I am hoping to receive a refund, is the "insert cartridge" option remaining after a cartridge has been placed in the port. The CodeJunkies (creator of PowerSave and its predecessors) website has a list of all games supported by the device. It includes several popular titles and I specifically purchased this for my copy of Pokemon X, which is included on the list of supported games. Regardless of what I did to clean the contacts of both the game and the PowerSave hardware, it would keep the "insert your game cartridge" message. Several YouTube videos contained help for the problem. The simplest solution was removing the dashes in your license key for the device. Other solutions included cleaning the contacts with alcohol or saliva (not recommended, this will degrade the contacts over time.) I had contact cleaner on hand and used this. No progress was made. Ultimately I began discovering issues with X and PowerSaves, which date back to 2014. Apparently Pokemon X and Y use a NAND saving mechanism that prevents the cartridge from being accessed outside of a 3DS. I have not been able to personally test if this is true, as Pokemon X is my only game specifically for 3DS. If this is the case, the CodeJunkies website has had incorrect information in their list of supported games for at least one year. I'm hoping that in the future Datel and/or CodeJunkies will release an update that makes the product usable for the games that it claims to be be compatible with. I'm hoping to borrow a friend's cartridges for other games to see if it will actually work with any other popular titles at this point. I will update the review if anything is discovered. OTHER ASPECTS: When I received the entire item, it was package in a bubble wrap envelope with the packaging from the stock photo inside. It was dented around the plastic right above the product name "Action Replay PowerSaves PRO" and at the bottom of the clear segment. The cardboard on the back also had slight folds as if it had possibly been bent over something before, but nothing major. Everything was sealed and appeared to be absolutely new in spite of the cosmetic imperfections in the packaging. The license key that was included worked and did not give me the error message that others have received. Both the USB cable and the input for the cartridge were in new condition and both were immediately recognized after the software was installed. My only problem is what was stated above: the product will not recognize Pokemon X. Again, updates will be made regarding if I can get the product to recognize other cartridges and if this is a universal problem or if it's just this game.

The "Golden Age" of cheating is gone, but we have this and it's something
There was a time in life when video games cheaters prospered. We had a few selections of cheat devices for our many game systems and we had the ability to take massive control of nearly any game. Those days are sadly gone. Cheating.... cheating changes. I had to try this out because I own just about anything and everything related to cheating including Game Genie for NES. I still have that, and all the silly books you subscribed to. First off, unlike our lovely cheating "Golden Age", we have much less control. Playing a game that has lives? You can't cheat for infinite lives, BUT you can cheat for 99 (or whatever the max is) lives. You can't have unlimited ammo/health/items, but you can have the max value. The system works pretty neat actually, and in a world where gaming tech even on handhelds is so complex and companies fear copyright infringement, cheating can still happen. You open the package, take out the little card with a website on it, and you download the software from said website. You sign up for a CodeJunkies account and connect the registration key (printed on the back side of the "manual" (card)). The systems connects and it tells you to plug your game into the device and plug the device into the computer. So... first off throw the USB cable away. Every Action Replay product in this "modern age" has come with an awful non/poorly working USB cable. Luckily, it's a pretty standard USB cable and if you game you have another one to use already in your house (PS3 controller charger?). You plug in your game then you plug in the device and the software connects online. Yes, it's pretty awful you have to connect to a server, but that's how the system works. You have a few options to choose from at the main menu. You can view your cheats, you can backup your game, and you can use "PowerSaves". I was a little confused on the powersave thing because all my games show nothing on that tab, so I have no comment on it. The backup screen is cool though. If you're worried about the auto backing up process not working you cna manually backup your game before cheating. The cheating screen allows you to manually pick cheats you want and then apply them to your game save. It doesn't erase your progress or mess up anything. It simply just changes values already in existence. For example: In Zelda you have 5 hearts for your life with a maximum of ten. You're halfway through the game. You the cheats to change your value of hearts to ten, and boom. You now have ten hearts and are exactly where you were before. End Example. So you need to be connected and you need to have the server have your cheats. Sort of a downside to our golden age, but hey there's some hard games out there (Shin Megami Tensei series I'm looking at you!) that have great stories and sometimes you don't have the time to grind. It's worked for all the games I've wanted to cheat on and has really helped me push though some games I sadly had sitting around because there wasn't time for me to kill a slime 80,000 times to progress to the next chapter. In conclusion, the system is decent and gives us SOMETHING. It's not ideal by any means and the set up has it's quirks (buggy software, useless USB cable).

YOLO420SWAG
I purchased this to use with NTSC versions of Pokémon ORAS and ACNL, both of which it works wonderfully for. It also has a couple codes for Conception II. (Those are the only hard copy games I own, so I can't comment on availability of others.) Other people said they had issues finding the registration code, but it's on the back of the start up instructs enclosed...not very difficult to find imo, but maybe I'm the next Sherlock Holmes? I also had no problem registering said code, nor did I have any issues with the servers being unavailable. I used it for the first time on Christmas Eve, and it hasn't been down at all over the holiday. I've used it about once a day since and all the codes work beautifully. And the event Pokémon codes register as legit, so you can transfer them to Pokebank! I agree the USB cord is crazy short, but I just plugged it into my laptop instead of my desktop so it doesn't really matter. As long as you don't rough house with it (and maybe take it out to a romantic dinner), it'll work fine. You really don't need to replace it like others have suggested unless you just want length. I was pretty leery to purchase this considering some of the reviews, but either it really is hit-or-miss like some say, or the product/customer service has been improved a little. I'm super happy with it overall and I'll definitely recommend it!
