Dragon Keeperの少年少女と未熟な竜達は、Tarman号とLeftrin船長、竜研究家のAliceに支えられて、人跡未踏の雨の原野川を着実に歩む。彼らを拒絶した社会から逃れ、安息の地、伝説の古代都市Kelsingraを探し続けるのだった。 * "Dragon Keeper"に続くRain Wild Chloniclesの続刊です。内容は旅の様子に終始して、サバイバル、14匹の竜とKeeper達の交流、Keeperの少年少女たちの交流が、複数人の視点：Leftrin船長、Aliceとその助手のSedric、竜のSintara、Keeperの少女Thymara から描かれます。彼らの苦悩する様子が代わる代わる描かれ、つい先が気になって辛いながらも読み進めてしまいます。時々、竜達の思いがけない振る舞いに笑ってしまうのが良い息抜きになりました。
