Small Diameter...Lets Air Leak In Through Door
After 4 years, it was time to replace the door gasket on our Quadra-Fire 2700i (ACC) wood-burning insert. The door failed the "dollar bill test" in multiple places. After looking up the Quadra-Fire part number for the door gasket ("832-1680 door rope"), I found that it was 3/4" diameter gasket. While the price on the Midwest Hearth gasket was excellent, the finished gasket after installation was obviously too small diameter, and resulted in an even worse door seal than I originally had with my 4 year old OEM gasket. Please see the attached picture of the new gasket, compared to the 4 year-old gasket from our wood-burning insert.Guess I'll have to waste my time pulling out the "new" Midwest Hearth gasket, cleaning out the gasket channel (again), spend more $$$ on a "bigger" 3/4 gasket (I'll use an OEM part this time).I took great care when installing the Midwest Hearth gasket to NOT stretch it out during installation (which would have resulted in a smaller diameter gasket). Despite the care I took, it failed me.I would NOT recommend the use of this gasket in Quadra-Fire stoves & inserts.

Worked very nicely.
The glass in the door of my Legacy stove had slipped down creating a gap at he top off the glass. This product was a perfect fit replacement for the existing gasket. The installation went very well. I thoroughly cleaned the door where the gasket is placed. The adhesive is great. I was worried that sticking to a rough cast surface might be a problem; it wasn't. It took me a couple of tries while installing the first couple of inches of gasket to figure out the way to orient the gasket to ensure the edge of the glass would be completely surrounded by the gasket. The gasket adhesive was forgiving enough to allow for some repositioning. Overall the installation was easy and turned out nice since the glass is up where it belongs and because of that the glass stays cleaner as it is not blocking the primary air/ air wash ports. (Cannot yet rate the durability.)

Flatter is Better
A round gasket in the groove must be squashed hard by the mating rib. Once broken in, the door is easier to latch, but the gasket hardens and gets brittle after awhile. Centering the sticky side of the flat gasket along the groove allows the mating rib to form the gasket into the groove and creates a nice U-shaped seal. The outer edges of the gasket wrap around the rib and stay soft for a more consistent seal. No stress on the hinges as with a fat round gasket. I recommend this product.

Good Stuff - Thicker Than I Expected
I bought this to install a new piece of glass in the door of my wood burning stove - even though the glass that broke, oddly enough, did not have a gasket. I just saw it on the site where I purchased the glass and it seemed to be a good idea. Ends up the gasket was much thicker than I expected. The glass I had cut was to close to the exact size of the opening size so it did not leave enough space for this to work effectively. Even without the gasket it was a tight fit.The glass ended up cracking due to how tight the final fit was - I suspect it could not handle the expansion when the glass was heated. I saw it coming but took the chance anyway. All that said, this was no fault to the gasket though. Just something to consider. The gasket itself is very well made and if I had the glass cut with more tolerance, it would have worked fine. When I replace the glass again, I will account for the gasket and hopefully be able to peel it off and reuse it. At this price though it's not a huge deal and I would definitely purchase this gasket again.

MADE IN THE U.S.A.
EASY PEASY . I pulled off the old gasket, it basically fell off. Sandpapered the old glue, it sanded like chalk. Cleaned area with alcohol and applied the new gasket. Peal off glue backing. After a few fires I don't see it coming off. High quality fiberglass flat rope. Never again will I mess with glue in a tube. Surprise ending it's made in the USA.After 2 chords of wood, I don't see this gasket ever comming off on its own. It's on there so good you can slam the stove door and it doesn't make any noise, just bounces open.

Outstanding product
The best glass gasket I've ever used. Tighter weave, and thick enough to seal well. It's a 'three-sided' U-shaped design. The middle section is flat and goes against the edge of the glass, the other two sides fold over the face and back of the glass as you unroll it. Seems very well made and installs and seals better than any other wood stove glass seal I've ever tried. The dark color is nicer looking than white too. I will buy again when the ol' wood stove needs another overhaul.

VERY nice material, high quality for extreme use!
Bought this to seal the firebox lid to the firebox on our OJ Bandera smoker. It worked better then we hoped! This is a very quality gasket, and for what we needed it for, should last as long as the smoker! Would buy again!!

Quality rope and easy to install.
This rope was super easy to install and created a great seal on my Baker woodstove. It is very important to get the channel around the door closure as clean as you can. That was a little time consuming but important for adhesion. I used a flathead screwdriver and a hammer to get the channel cleaned out but the top channel is really difficult to get a tool into. If you have a long thin screwdriver it really helps. Then take a shop vac and clean it out from debris.
