So this does have a draw back - if you use a larger device (in my case a Kindle Fire) it doesn't fit nicely into the slot and the location and length of the cord makes it difficult to use.Other than that, if you have a kid who LOVES music, loves to rock out, this is IDEAL. We thought he would like the microphone itself more but in the end he hasn't really taken to it. But the speakers on the base, the ability to dance with the microphone, and the plug and play nature of the MP3 input really make this ideal for any kid who likes real music to dance to.

My little guys use this ALL the time. I play you tube videos of Justin Beiber so they can sing to their favorite artist! It has a couple foot pedals. One is to hear your audience clap for you and the other is for music tunes. Great gift idea for the little ones that love to sing and put on a show for you.

We bought this microphone after reading the reviews and hoped that it would work. Well, we should have listened to the other reviews! I opened it, put brand new batteries in it but nothing worked! There was absolutely no power. My husband unscrewed the entire thing and said that the wires were not even soldered together; they were just laying in there and not connected to anything. He connected the wires in the base, so that it would turn on, but then the microphone didn't work! He unscrewed the microphone and took it all apart; same thing, nothing was connected! He tried to fix it but it was a worthless effort. We decided to return it! We were greatly disappointed.

This was a Christmas gift to my children. They LOVED it. It worked for 3 days, and now the microphone won't work. The base still claps and plays music, but no sound at all from the microphone. The sound quality was actually pretty good while it lasted. The children truly didn't rough house it, there aren't even any marks on it. It feels like something is broken down in the microphone jack. It is really nice looking, and was fun. I really wish it would have worked out. It seems as though Amazon is taking good care of us as far as the return. Hopefully it was just a lemon, I had hoped to exchange, but they're out of them, apparently, so I can't confirm or deny that.

Nephew loved this toy, especially the applause button. Not the great sound system, but for a $20 toy you can't expect a Bose. Easy hookup to a mp3 or ipod.

The microphone and stand were in very good physical condition. However, the microphone has a short in it and does not always work. It was used, so I'm keeping it. It was a bit of a disappointment. That being said, my two year old can't stop playing with it, whether the mic is working or not. He loves it.

Got this for my 2 year old son for Christmas and it has been well worth it! He likes to sing while playing the guitar. I like that it doesn't play too loudly. Adjusts height easily. Not heavy. He also enjoy singing to Mary had a little lamb, wheels on the bus etc that it plays when you push the peddles.

This is a fun mic, and my 3 and 4 year old love to play with it. I like that you can hook it up to your cell phone if you want other music. Also, I like that it doesn't get too loud.
