Canning Rack Kits-Canning Jar Rack Canning Funnel and Canning Lifter

Very first time canning jam. Quality strong metal and handles. Sturdy 'lifter', with red wooden handle and non slip gripper. Kind of stiff to open gripper, takes two hands, but I'm a novice. Can fit 8 Mason jars in 'tray'. Works fine, especially for the price. I don't need some super professional canning equipment at this point. Love the funnels, but I actually didn't use them. They're easy to store. BUT, I have learned that I might want a magnetic 'stick' to retrieve the lids out of the hot water. They can definitely be grabbed with the lifter thingy, but I think the stick would be easier. Still...recommend.

I bought the kit because I bought a really TALL canner! Truly. And the price of the racks everywhere else was more than this entire kit. In the end, the funnels came in handy, but NOT for canning, much too flimsy and the wide end too narrow. The tongs for grabbing the jars is hard to handle, too stiff, and too short. If you have a big canner like I do, you want to keep some distance from the heat coming from all those jars and the hot water! But the rack was just right. Once I took the top layer of jars off and the rack I'd placed on the bottom jars, the rack lifted the bottom jars right out. However, I like being cautious. I won't be doing that all the time. I'll be taking the quart jars out one by one, just in case. Anything smaller though, and if I'm in a hurry, I know I can do that with that rack. No chipping of the metal, no bending, or rust. Good stainless steel.

Very useful kit with reasonable price. The rack is decent size. Good quality!
