It's got it where it counts.
This was a fun way to spend an afternoon, and you get a decent-sized, good looking model of the Falcon at the end. A real modeler could do much more in the way of painting than the basic job that comes with the model, but considering I didn't have to paint it myself I'm quite happy. The back of the box says ages 8-10, that tools "may" be required, and that build takes an hour. I think it's possible that a patient 8 year-old could do this but he might need help: 10 is a safer bet if they haven't done models or similar detail work before. At a minimum, the parts come out best if you remove them with an x-acto knife, and they will look and fit together better if you use a file or find-grain sandpaper to remove the residue. The instructions recommend using tape to hold some of the parts together: I used super glue and was pleased with the results. An hour seems possible if you're experienced. This was my first model in 3 decades, so I was pretty slow and careful, but it still only took me about three hours all together. You can choose to build the model with landing gear up or down. The instructions are somewhat cryptic in telling you how to do it, but if you know to look for it you can figure it out. The model instructions show the rectangular dish from the new movie, but you get the old dish in the parts, and it's a straightforward substitution. The parts generally go together very well. I had a little trouble around the docking ports (the octagonal constructs on each side): the sides didn't stay snapped in very well and I ended up using a little glue. The clear canopies under the guns were also a little tricky. I had to file the holes to make them sit better, and it wasn't clear from the instructions whether the canopy dome was supposed to face inwards or outwards (the dome curves toward the inside of the ship). All in all, though, it's a pretty easy build. There's a lot of detail and it looks nice when it's done.

Fun Model of an Icon
Built this with a few friends while BSing. It was a fun time and we had a fun model to show for our time.

Pretty dang fun.
This brought me back to the days when I made models as fast and I could afford them. Without the mess, toxic fumes, or a significant amount of time. I was surprised that it took several hours, I was expecting just a few minutes . A lot of time was spent cutting the parts off the tree and cleaning them up. Get an xacto knife if you don't have one. Admittedly I cleaned more than necessary. Speaking of perfection, does anybody know where part 47 goes?I think it should come with a stand for if you build it with landing gear up but it looks great with the ramp down so there's that.It looks great from a few feet and acceptable closer. It's not advertised as screen ready. Many issues could be fixed if I wanted to spend a few more hours with filler and paint but I'm happy with it as is.A first time modeler might need help from someone handy.(Templar knights not included, no glue was used during this construction, filmed in final location)

Great kit for the price
I got this to kill time during Covid. The model is a nice size and looks good without any extra painting. However I did weather it after assembly. If you are used to making Japanese kits this may be a bit of a letdown. The detail is good and assembly was not difficult at all. Be prepared for some sanding where you cut the parts off of the sprue. The directions are ok but some steps don’t tell you how to orient some of the parts. The picture doesn’t help in some instances but you can figure it out when test fitting. All in all I would buy another kit in this line. I did use liquid cement as well just to make sure it stayed together but it is not necessary. I did also build it with the round radar not the rectangular one. The model comes with both.
