Andrews McMeel Publishing Big Nate Makes the Grade

There are many more 'worthy ' books than this for young folk -of course there are! BUT a love of reading and particularly a love of laughter goes a long way to rounding out a person who will enjoy and appreciate more serious literature later.

My lad (9 years) loves reading these Big Nate books. He can be a bit lazy in terms of homework so these books, which he reads unassisted have helped bring on his reading.
