Russian-English Bilingual Visual Dictionary

It's by far the best RU-EN picture dictionary I've seen. The only thing that prevented me from giving it all 5 stars is pronounciation. As I am a native speaker of another Slavic language, once I get the accent right - it is almost intuitive for me to read Russian properly. From my perspective the transcription used in the dictionary is a "good start", but it is generally simplified. What surprised me is that the letter "O/o" is - according to the dictionary - always read as "o", while many times, when it is not accented - it should be read as "a" - which every student of Russian knows very well. The authors / editors should definitely change this in the next edition. I disagree with one of the previous reviewers that the dictionary "is printed with such small nanosize fonts that make it unreadable." The font size is ok. This must be some kind of misunderstanding.

Goes with, does not replace the Compact Oxford Russian, which I got first. The whole of life in pictures, nice to flick through while watching TV. Subjects covered in surprising detail include, geography, birds, geology, art, photography, camping, music, pop concerts, sports, shipping, air and train travel, farming, law, college, chemistry lab, food and drink, vegetables, newspapers, post office, gardening, tools, washing, health, the human body. Diagrams of the quality of an encyclopaedia. Looks like a good way to enrich vocabulary.

A very beautiful book but TINY over all size and print., it should be A5 size, but it is way smaller. I need a magnifying glass....Therefore only a generous 4 points.

I was enjoying my Russian studies and this book but after Putin's attrocities in Ukraine I don't want anything Russian in my life anymore. I hope they stay behind their new iron curtain.

I'm learning russian, and I was reccomended this by a friend. it works really well and I love the visual images on them as it helps you to understand more things well. the only sad part it doesn't inform you how to form proper sentences so you may end up messing it up a little. other than that, I would reccomend this and the other language books for beginners
