THIS ISN’T THE BOOK BY NORA ITS BY JOHN FOWLES. Gosh the amount of reviews on here made for the Nora Robert’s book ‘the collector’ are ridiculous. READ ABOVE, THIS BOOK IS ‘THE COLLECTOR’ by JOHN FOWLES. If you actually took the time to read that before writing a review of a terrible Nora Robert’s book instead of this piece of art from John Fowles then I feel sorry for you. The John Fowles book ‘The Collector’ was magnificent and has some of the best character development I’ve read in almost a decade. It truly outlives it’s time and I wish John was still around now to see that. If you love a good suspenseful yet articulate and artsy book, this story is for you.

Received in good time & neatly packaged. I actually received a hardback copy from 1964 which on reading publishing notes was 2nd edition. The dustcover was a bit tatty but binding still okay and no issues with missing or torn pages thus far. It is a brilliant study of a psychopath who takes captive a young woman with whom he has become obsessed. The first part is told from the point of view of the "collector" who starts off as a reasonable person but the cracks in his personality quickly start to show. The second part is told by the captive who plots her escape by using the captors obsession against him. A very well written account with a clever twist. It had me hooked from the beginning and didn't let go. The language is perhaps a bit old school but still relevant today.
