Man-Pack Radio that I would purchase again
After reading a product review in our local ham radio club's newsletter, I decided to pick up this radio. As I like to spend a lot of time in the outdoors, manpack-type radios are something that I am drawn to. My initial impression of this radio upon opening the plain cardboard box was a bit concerning. The radio was wrapped in a manila type envelope inside of the box. All parts as shown in the picture were included. The instruction book is a typical Chinese translation - fortunately the programming through CHIRP was simple (be aware when programming through CHIRP that you can only set two of the three power settings: full power - 25 w and low power - 10 w. To set 5 w, I had to do this manually). Another local ham operator and I tested it - on both Simplex and through the local repeater, the audio transmission is a bit on the soft side. One thing that has been a bit of a challenge (with my fingers) is holding the microphone without accidentally changing the volume buttons on the side. I am impressed with this radio to the extent that I plan to purchase another for my a close friend's upcoming birthday.

Had to send it back due to very low muffled audio. Tried another mike and was a bit better but not acceptable. Will for sure order another. Current version firmware is 1.08, mine was 1.05 and many nice improvements in the newer versions. These radio's can not be upgraded by the consumer so newer for sure is better. Also be very cautious charging it with the 12V cord supplied, its not regulated so will blow out the battery if charged to long. This happened to a friend. Best to charge only with the ac charger. Use Chirp for programming this unit.

its a 70 dollar radio in a 10 dollar box....and a 20 dollar battery....add's up to 100 dollars....and they want twice that much for the radio....buy the radio by itself and put it into your box save a lot of money.... i did
