Latin Percussion ES-6 Salsa Timbale/Uptown

Owning other LP cowbells (particularly the lower pitch E-7 "Salsa Downtown" Mambo cowbell and LP's E-5 "Salsa Timbale Cowbell") I wanted to try the E-6 "Salsa Uptown cowbell" and read many of the reviews on how loud this bell is. While it is louder than the E-5 & E-7 it does have an interesting tone and depth. I am not one that likes to tape my bells because of the look, the gum it leaves and prefer to use technique ("dead stickening") to control such volume but thought I would use moongel on the inside of the bell if it was necessary. It turns out that I was able to control the overtones & volume with my technique. It's the type of bell that could very nicely "cut-through" deadening club sound acoustics and/or when the timbale isn't mic'd.The gauge of LP Bells is thicker and seems harder than JCR Cowbells, which offers a sweeter, rounder pitch, tone and resonance.

Thought it would sound great right out of the box but I had to use some tape to dampen the overtones. Sounds ok now but I dont like the way it looks.

Live this salsa bell. But its very loud... Still getting use to it. It will get better as I develop technical. Recommend it . Will buy again.

A truly fine instrument. You can get out of it at least 5 very well defined and basic sounds to ride with tropical and salsa music. Beware: it is a bit loud.

I love this LP Salsa Uptown cowbell. It makes the style sound nice with any song. I highly recommend it. Sounds good to me. They look nice on my Timbales.
