Nice to have risotto in so short a time.

Good but prefer the porcini mushroom version.

This risotto is very good and very easy to prepare. However, of all the Riso Bello Risotto, the Mushroom flavor is the best! But if you're a saffron lover, this is the one to choose.

Let me start by saying that I was born and raised in Italy and that for many years I made my own risotto and still do. There was a time when mentioning risotto here in the US would lead to lengthy explanations (such as "no, you cannot use Jasmine rice"). But those days, as well as the days when no artisanal bread and no fresh mozzarella cheese were available, are gone.My own risotto is excellent. I know because I have tasted the best, and still do when I travel back home to visit relatives, and mine is as good as any I have ever had. But I have to admit it is hard to beat what Riso bello does with these practical, pre cooked boxes.It is not equal to fresh homemade risotto, but it is better than what you get at many restaurants if you happen to wait less than 15 minutes to get your risotto. Cooking risotto takes over 45 minutes and requires constant attention and mixing (unless you have one of those fancy pots with a powered stirrer). The Riso bello packets are a convenient way to get 80% of the risotto experience without slaving over the stove for an hour and a half.If you have time to make your own risotto, and you know how, by all means you should. But these riso bello products let you enjoy a damn good risotto in less than 15 minutes (12 minutes exactly).Even if you know how to make real risotto, you may not want to cook it for just 2 people. These packets solve that problem and while I'd probably make my own risotto for special occasions, but riso bello is an excellent way to satisfy your love of risotto without investing an afternoon after it.
