He is half way to adult hood. He was born yesterday, just yesterday it feels like. These 9 years have flown, the next 9 will be tomorrow and I want them to last a life time, because one day he’ll leave, grow up and start a family. I won’t see or talk to him everyday, so I want to hold on to memories. This diary is something I saw originally on Pinterest and instantly bought it. It’s fantastic. We’ve only been doing it for a month, but my child insists that he will be exactly the same in 3 years. He enjoys answering the questions. Some are easier than others, some are silly, some show character. For example, “What snack does someone else have that you wish you did?” “If you could help kids in another country what would you do?” I’m paraphrasing from memory but these are questions that pinpoint what your kiddo is thinking in any given moment. Likes, dislikes, hopes, there are no wrong answers, there is only acceptance to his feelings. You come home from school or daycare or from a hard day of play and your child gets to express a part of himself. Answering a different question everyday for 3 years. A memento of his growth, something to hold on to. I’m feeling all sad because one day he’ll be an adult, and I know I’ll be grateful for this memento, plus his children will love seeing it one day. Review: A Treasure for Years to Come - This has truly been the best book. My boys are now 18 and 16, and I love going back to read the hilarious and honest things they wrote years ago. We didn’t fill it out every single day, but the moments we did are such a gift now. I’m so glad we captured their thoughts just as they were—funny, real, and straight from their hearts.

A Treasure for Years to Come
This has truly been the best book. My boys are now 18 and 16, and I love going back to read the hilarious and honest things they wrote years ago. but since then they've all been so good about writing in it daily
I got this as a Christmas gift for my kids and all their cousins this past Christmas. They were not overly thrilled yet polite at receiving a book as a gift, but since then they've all been so good about writing in it daily. I love the idea, and they also understand that they will change over the coming years and be able to look back at just how they have. Just as an example, the first entry, January 1, has them write/sign their name, which I think is a precious souvenir for them to have, to look back on when they're adults, and to show their kids, their grandkids. Some people may find that the space allotted per entry is too little, but that is precisely the point: it just takes a small investment of time each day, which is doable and not daunting, even motivating in some cases. Those who want more space should get a different journal. For us it is the ideal introduction to journal keeping, and a wonderful moment for them to pause and reflect.

Great prompts; older kids may need more space though...
What a neat idea for a keepsake! I love the idea of journaling for the kids and this seemed like a great way to start. The product itself is well made and seems to me that it would last for three years with no problem. The only negative for me was that there isn't enough space for my kids to write their answers completely. I don't think this would be an issue with younger kids who may keep their answers short and sweet, but my kids 10+ want to dig in a little more and want to write longer answers. The best part for us is the prompts; they really make my kids think and it leads to some great discussions. I ended up getting a blank journal and still using the prompts from this book. I like the blank journal in that I can write back to my kids and we can keep the discussion going, so for us this book is a "companion" to a larger project.

Is your child doing okay? What's going on with her?
We're just shy of finishing our second year writing, so I've been able to see last year's as I've filled out this year. My daughter is now 7, and I think starting it when I did was great. We read the questions during the bedtime routine. A few gems: What do you hope for? 6 years old: I hope to be rich 7 years old: I hope to be happy tomorrow, and not a grump What have you done lately that you're proud of? 6 years old: Went on an expedition all by myself 7 years old: Touched the bottom of the 8 feet deep section of the pool for the 1st time. If you could buy anything what would you buy? 6 years old: thousands of dolls 7 years old: something that stops cancer or a My Little Pony mansion What are you especially good at? 6 years old: Jumping. I can jump so high! 7 years old: Being awesome (ORLY?? ha) Ok, enough, but let me tell you, this is a great springboard for conversations. I don't have to ask "tough" questions and get a shrug, or try to force an awkward discussion about "what did you do in school today" because it all comes out when I ask these questions and show that I'm accepting of every answer she gives. She has even said she didn't want to answer a question, and that was ok with me. It's still an answer, right? A question in this book is what raised the big red flag for me when she told me how bored she was in school, or that someone was stealing her pencils, or that a place called Cat Paradise exists, if only in her and her friends' minds. Plus, my daughter loves this. It's special to her and she's special to me. I highly recommend it.

We are at the end of our 3 years...
I bought this for my son when he was 7 years old. We started it January 1st 2017 and now are approaching the end of 2019. It has been such a fun bedtime routine for us. As he has gotten older and we stopped reading to him so much because he was reading on his own this was a nice way to still have that connection time. I am honestly surprised we kept it up, but I give the credit to him, he remembers and asks us to do a question. There are sometimes we have to play catch up on the questions, and that is fine. Sometimes he doesn't want to answer a question or writes very little, and then sometimes he expands the answer. It is fun to look back and see his handwriting change and his spelling change. I am currently looking for the next 3 year one, who knows if we will keep it up like this (because he will be 13! when we finish that one....) but he is already upset this one is ending soon and asking for a new one.

Buenisimo Una forma de conocer a tus hijos, hacerlos reflexionar y empezar conversación Yo uso cada espacio para cada uno de mis 3 hijos, en lugar de hacerlo para un hijo y 3 años

This is a low quality book which doesn’t offer the prompts and the insight this kind of product is supposed to and the sellers assumes no responsibility so no free returns. Skip to the next items

This is brilliant. I gave this to my niece for Christmas and she's crazy about it. She's very imaginative, but not a very linguistic child, so the short answers are just enough writing for her to not get tired out. Her parents love it too.

The prompts for each day help children to have something short to write about. It would be amazing to look back a few years later to see how they grew up.
