Ok, I didn't run any Chemical tests or anything, but the water tasted fine to me. I promise my Wife would have said something if there was the hint of an unusual taste. I did follow the advice of another reviewer, and ran some water through it first. Not 5 gallons, but a few glasses. No problemo.So there.....It was cheaper than the ones we usually get. Installed the same. Whats not to like?

Prior to purchasing this filter, I had been quite satisfied with the LG 5231JA2006A filter. I gave this "USA-made" filter a try since Amazon directed me to it when I searched for the LG 5231JA2006A filter. No LG-made filters were offered as an option. After trying it, YUK!. Sure this filter is cheap compared to the LG-made filter, but the one I received does not produce drinkable water. So, I checked Amazon, read the reviews and now I see that others also are disappointed with it. I went to the LG website and found that the LG filter 5231JA2006A is now called the LT600P - and is available at a 15% discount if you sign up for a 3 or 6 month subscription. When I searched Amazon for the LT600P filter, the filter is available on Amazon, and subscription is available, but it is $5 more expensive than if purchased directly from LG. Bottom line, the LG-made filter LT600P costs more than this supposedly "USA-made" replacement filter, but it actually works, and is available for $5 less when purchased directly from LG.

Perfect fit and extremely good water flow, but is it really filtering the water? I don't know. These filters are not certified in any way and during the before-use filter purge there was no indication of charcoal in the discharge as with other water filters I have installed. I give it high marks because it may be the best water filter I have ever used. Big maybe.

Filter installed and rotated into place as with previous filters. Two days later I noticed puddle of water dripping from shelf. Put a cup under filter drain hold and proved it was leaking. O-rings looked fine. Removed filter and reinstalled upside down from original position. No further leaks (left the cup under drain for a week). I think the filter is okay and I would buy again, although I'll be cautious after install.

Ordered this as replacement filter for our Kenmore model 795.7302.901 freezer-on-top refrigerrator made in 2010. It works, but it's shorter (about 1/2") and narrower (about 1/4") than the Kenmore 46-9990 filter which it replaced. We purchased this because we were unable to find the original filter online through Sears, and even had an incorrect one sent to us by Sears. (As an aside, this is ridiculous that Sears won't support a 6 yo model refrigerator!)We've hung onto our original Kenmore 46-9990 filter and will look for another, properly sized, replacement filter in the future.

We have a LG refrigerator that uses filter cartridge number 5231JA2006A. We bought the filter on 10/1/16 in preparing to change the filter the next month when it was due. We changed it on 11/3/16 and on 11/5/16 I noticed a big puddle of water on the top shelf. I thought maybe one of the containers had leaked, but after further investigation I saw that the filter was dripping water onto the shelf. I immediately went onto Amazon to return it, but it was ONE day too late to return the item, I was only good to return until 11/4/16. UGH! Well I won't be buying this filter again!

I like the US made. Also, although a bit more expensive per unit than other filters it is larger diameter than my current filter, it will process a larger volume so the unit price is actually lower. These are spares but I expect them when installed to function as advertised.

At first I was worried as the groves in this model were different than the ones on the original filter. However, to my surprise there was no issue with the fit. You will see a white film come out if you do not follow the instructions an allow the water to fully run until it is clear. So use a pitcher and after about 1 and 1/2 fills 2 min max the water ran clear.
