I bought these so I could read books at bedtime to my two year old. They are certainly bright enough for that as well as other tasks that require a little extra light. Because the led lights are attached to the temples of the glasses, they are easily directed to provide some floodlight. The lenses are distortion free and properly magnified, and the led bulbs don't shed any appreciable heat. Included in the pouch are a couple extra batteries, so you can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

If the electricity ever went out in solitary confinement the warden would be miffed to know you were still reading all the classics unfettered,unabated, and uninterrupted.

I really was excited about these, and I still like them and will give them another try. My eyesight is going and I need reading glasses that are a little stronger than the 3.00s you can get at many stores. They offer 4.00s, which is the reason I will try them again,.The pair that I got have two lights, one on each side, with their own separate batteries. One LED went out very soon after I got them. I assumed the batteries were the problem, but upon closer inspection, it's a defect in the switch that make the LED work intermittently.These could be redesigned so that there is a single switch that turns on BOTH LEDs at the time and use a sturdier switch. I will try these again, as I said. But they need work.The little bag and the lens cleaner cloth are both functional and can be used with other glasses.

These things are perfect for night time reading or for writing. You need no other light,they give off plenty. I love them.
