The pole looks great and is very sturdy
The pole looks great and is very sturdy. My mother-in-law backed into my existing post and snapped the top off. I had it held together with screws, lots of them. This was the perfect fix for me because it didn't require setting a new post, and in fact, only needed the bottom (good) portion of what I did have. I did dig up the ground a little around my old post so the sleeve would slide down below ground level. This let my mailbox set the recommended height off the road, otherwise it would have been a bit high. It also gave it the appearance as if it were a brand new, in-the-ground, post. Installation time was about 30 minutes.

Very Attractive
The post looks really nice. I am very pleased with it - but there were lots of pieces and it was not that easy to put together. I did not notice before I bought it that it must be installed over a 4 x 4 post. I thought the whole thing was included. On the whole, I am very pleased with it at least after it was all assembled.

Attractive, Well Made and Easy to Install
This was very easy to put together and then install. All the required hardware was present and all the requisite holes lined up perfectly. Additionally, my 27+ year old mailbox was easily mounted; again, all the holes lined up perfectly. It's a very attractive assembly and installation was quite easy; I purchased the Gibraltar 4x4 Easy-Install Anchor Post Kit along with this post and the two products worked well together. Good value and I would purchase again, but this aluminum post will undoubtedly outlive me.

Good quality, matched mailboxes in our association, only complaint is bought a used version with more damage than expected
Good quality mailbox - my only complaint is I purchased a used one and it had quite a bit of damage to the top of the post that I had to pound back to shape with hammer - luckily the top cover post covered it up. The construction is good and install was simple right over a standard 4x4 wood post cemented into the ground.

Quality but a little complex to install.
Looks nice and is sturdy. I recommend getting bronze wood screws (fortunately I had them) to attach the post to the underlying 4x4. The screws that come with it are shiny chrome. Also be aware that attaching the box to the post is a two-person job - one to hold the hex nuts from underneath while someone uses a screwdriver to tighten the bolts from inside the mailbox.

Good Universal Replacement Post
I had a very nice cast metal post, which was damged by a snowplow. The mailbox was fine I just needed a new post and crossarm. This was a great universal kit. Once I installed the 4x4 wood post, I just slid this metal post over it and secured it with the screws provided. The old mailbox fit perfectly on the mounting plate that is provided.

The worst part of this are the cheap screws which round off. The instructions should also tell you exactly how much post you need above the surface. It does look nice and as long as you can dig a post hole, you should have no problem installing it.

Very nice post BUT the support arm is very weak and plastic magnet holder is cheap
Very nice post BUT the support arm is very weak. When the mailbox was accidentally banged (I don't believe it was hit too hard), the support arm bent. I would have expected it to hold up better than it did.An update, after 2 1/2 years I've reduced my satisfaction to 2 stars for the post and mailbox combination sold by Gibraltar. Along with a flimsy support arm, it turns out a cheap piece of plastic is used to hold the magnet (magnet holds the mailbox door shut). I've attached a photo of the broken magnet holder. This mailbox setup was expensive. Overall I'm very disappointed since one would not expect so many problems after 2 1/2 years of very easy use.
