What happens if both inputs have audio signals present? will it still switch to input b (the sensing input) until there is no longer a signal in b?

Yes, the sensing input takes precedence.

Can I switch to a source manually if I want? Also, will it switch between sources if audio comes from either one, regardless of default source?

There is no manual switching available. Input A is always on until it senses voltage from input B and it remains on B until the voltage goes away.

Does this favor a source? Does it stay locked on a source until it is no longer producing sound? I have had issues with fighting with auto-switches.

It has a default source that it always favors unless there's a signal on the other one. When switched to the secondary input, there's an adjustable delay that determines how long it waits to switch back to the primary after it stops detecting signal. I think it's adjustable up to about 1 minute. I use mine to share a set of PC speakers between my computer and Echo Dot. I have the computer as primary, and the Dot as secondary. It works well as long as the music volume out of the Dot is relatively high. If the volume drops too low (quiet section of a song, for example), it'll fail to detect it and cut out, but this is fairly infrequent and can be mitigated by a longer switch delay. Overall I've been happy with it.
