Works well, better stain blocking than the non Plus 123, though the regular 123 sticks to about any surfaces. I haven't tested this one for that. I needed to block stains that came through the joints and tape in re-taping an old yellowed ceiling, where staining came right through the joint compound. 123Plus blocked them well in one coat.

Don't listen to the youtub influencers out there that spread the myth that a water based primer will not cover stains. After using this product I can ABSOLUTELY assure you it does. I am a guy that tends to only trust (and use) oil based products. For this particular job, high odor VOC was totally out of the question. So I was a bit stressed that I had to go with this water-based primer that I had never used. The stress was unwarranted! It covered very bad water stains with ease. As a rule, I always use two coats of primer (and did in this case) . But to be honest the water stains were eliminated with the first coat. Also, this primer is an absolute breeze to work with and apply. It goes on smoothly and uniformly. Clean up was also a breeze - No mineral spirits! I am so impressed with this primer that I can honestly say that for any job going forward I probably wont give it much thought really - I'll just grab this stuff off the shelf. By the way, be careful if you shop for this - It has to say "Plus" next to the 1-2-3. (The labels are kind of similar to the original) UPDATE: It is 5 months later and the damp, wet environment of the bathroom in which this was applied still looks spectacular! Highly Recommend.

Got a quart of this here on Amazon since I was spaced-out and forget to get any primer at the local shop when I was there. The price was great online and arrived in a few days. I've used several different national brands as well as "off brands" and this one seems to hold up the best in so many different applications. Recently I primed some glass to help for some acrylic paint stick better to the slick surface, primed some wood trim for touch up work, laid on pretty heavy to help coat some exposed metal before the final color, etc. 1-2-3 Primer works very well and recommend for home users as well as pro's. I'm not a pro, just a weekend fixer-upper/destroyer (LOL) who find this stuff works very well on so many different surfaces.

This primer provides excellent adhesion and coverage, making it a solid choice for a variety of surfaces. It dries relatively quickly and works well as a base for paint. However, proper surface prep is key—if not cleaned or sanded properly, it may not adhere as well as expected. The odor is mild compared to other primers, and cleanup is easy with soap and water. Overall, a great product, but make sure to follow prep instructions for the best results.

Costly, but a great product.

Great coverage but I would still use some sort of strip to make the cabinets not shiny. I used this on our bathroom and our kitchen cabinets in order to prep a color but the ones in the bathroom I didn’t use mineral spirits to remove the shiny gloss and that one seems to peel off easier. The cabinets in the kitchen where I used mineral spirits have not peeled or scratched at all. I did two coats on both of my cabinets.

This is a great primer and much cheaper than Kiltz. I actually use it on boards, before painting flowers or birds with acrylic paint.
